Went to David’s on 23rd for a quick lunch bite… only went for the awesome chopped POG… ordered the working persons special. NEVER AGAIN! I paid $13 for a half container of food. This is worth $7! Like dang you couldn’t fill up the container?? I feel scammed. So disappointed in lunch. Asked for sliced pork but they had none. Opted for chopped with reassurance that it wasn’t full of hard bits. It was, and very, very dry, almost ground, and tasteless- no smokey flavor- not what you’d expect for pork. No juice. No sauce. 5 onion rings which may or may not typical, were tasty and ranch was offered for them. Just not the caliber of food I was expecting from David’s. I’ve gotten breakfast there many times and catered in lunch for work after co workers were pleased.

Bobby and his David’s barbecue and catering team absolutely made our wedding a masterpiece. Bobby is a master of his craft and was tremendously helpful with ideas, options, first class service! He is creative, thoughtful, professional, but somehow at our wedding he and his crew were invisible but Then suddenly a hand would appear with a plate, glass or assistance as if they were magicians. Immediately following the service as soon as my bride and I exited the courtyard and onto the landing, one of the caterers appeared holding two glasses of water and a small plate of hors d’oeuvres with a congratulatory statement. Bobby also coordinated with our cake delivery personnel, and another supplier providing display racks. These folks think of everything! Bobby came to me part of the way through the reception with a nudge to collect the wedding gifts from the bird cage he provided for envelope drop off and escorted me out to collect it, and they loaded the extra drink supplies and a vehicle for us. He and his crew are top-notch and I recommend them 100% of the time.

Tasty BBQ, fast service, good sized portions for the prices. They also offer a daily special which is a great deal. BBQ sauce wasn’t our favorite. However, the meat came without sauce and that was a plus for us.

Great pork sandwich. $2 on Tuesdays. You choose bun or garlic bread. And they will add coleslaw to the sandwich for no additional charge. Also recommend the select sides… fried okra, onion rings, corn nuggets.
Edit to add: Working man’s lunch includes a sandwich, one side and a drink for $8.99. 50 cents to upgrade to a large drink… they do have unsweetened and sweet brewed tea. Students and school staff get 10% off with ID. Note there is a small fee (about 3%) for credit card payments.
The NE 23 Avenue location is easy to get in and out. Never too busy. Wish they were open a few more hours (maybe until 6pm) so it would be a takeout supper option on this (less congested) side of Gville.

Location is kept clean and tidy, staff is kind and know their BBQ. Food is good quality at decent prices. Keep an eye out for their daily specials!
This is worth a stop for sure. Grab the pulled pork sandwiches on Tuesdays! Go ahead and fall in love with one of their sauces while you’re there, you can buy a bottle to take home with you.
