I pass this place all the time, but today I saw a Restaurant Week sign and decided to try it. Small spot. Not crowded for lunch, but enough people that it didn’t feel awkward, and it wasn’t noisy.

I’m not a big drinker, but I usually try a cocktail from the menu. The drinks listed on their website weren’t on the current menu, and nothing else sounded good enough to spend $20 on one drink.

For lunch I ordered the Caesar salad and the steak frites. The Caesar was a generous portion but otherwise totally forgettable. The only memorable part was the croutons, and even those were oddly soft, with no crunch at all.

The steak was horrible, honestly. It smelled weird, almost fishy, and it was extremely tough. I ordered it medium. It looked medium, but they bring it out on a sizzling plate and the underside was way overcooked.

My biggest complaint was the service. I understand there was only one person serving the whole place, but I wasn’t checked on even once. My water got refilled, which was the only saving grace. No one asked how the food was, if I wanted anything else, or gave me a chance to ask for steak sauce to help the sad steak go down. After I was clearly finished, the restaurant emptied out and I still had to put my coat on and walk up to the bar just to get my check.

I really hoped I’d like this place and find a new lunch spot in the area, but it wasn’t worth it, even during Restaurant Week.

We had a peaceful and enjoyable early Friday evening upstairs in the dining room. The service was attentive and excellent, and the food was delicious—rustic with a unique twist. We sat in the corner with our penguin friend and even did some research to uncover why it was there! Before leaving, we had the chance to meet the chef, who was friendly and personable as he headed out for the night.

Popped into David Burke Tavern for happy hour and loved the dark wood, cozy vibe. Drink was solid and well-made, and I tried the lobster dumplings. Sauces were amazing, but the dumplings weren’t super warm and the top where it cinched was kind of hard. Maybe just a fluke. Still, I’d come back to try more dishes!

Had an extraordinary meal at David Burke Tavern. Service was top notch… friendly, yet professional and knowledgeable!!!!! The clothesline bacon (and having it blowtorched table side) was awesome! Bacon was sweet and peppery! So yummy. The prime ribeye was perhaps the best I’ve had in a very long time!!! Perfectly seasoned with whatever dry rub/seasoning they use! The showstopper though had to have been the cake lollipop tree with cotton candy!!!! Sooo good! David Burke Tavern is not cheap, but I feel very worth the money and I would definitely come back again and again!!!!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at David Burke’s Tavern on Christmas Eve. The service was absolutely terrible. Our waiter Richard N. was not only inattentive but outright rude, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. It was shocking, especially on a holiday evening when you expect a certain level of warmth and professionalism. The overall experience was soured by this lack of basic hospitality, and unfortunately, it overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal.
As you can see from the pictures we tried everything from the Clothes line Bacon and the Lobster Dumplings to the Dry-aged Porterhouse which were all cold but delicious.

If Chef David Burke truly cares about the reputation of his restaurant, I would highly encourage him or his management team to reach out to me to hear more about my experience and hopefully address these serious service issues. This was far from the experience I was expecting especially since I had a very positive experience at the Park Ave location. Unfortunately I won’t be returning unless there’s a genuine effort to improve.

This place was such a hidden gem! Tucked away and a little hard to spot at first, but once inside — wow. Super cute, cozy, and definitely romantic. The food was absolutely delicious, everything tasted super fresh and the presentation was beautiful. The flavors were incredible, every bite felt like a surprise. Such a lovely experience from start to finish.

If you’re in NYC and you don’t come here, you’re an idiot. The food is amazing!!! I’m writing this for my mom because she’s still eating and not sharing…which means Chef Burke is destroying maternal instincts. That’s how good his food is. The wild mushroom ravioli has turned mushrooms into a food group and the cheesecake was light with coolies that only enhanced. Chef Burke and his team created a food experience about which I don’t think I’ve ever seen my Mom rave like this before. Come. Here. Even their house wine was well selected!

This was Valentine’s Day night, we made a STANDARD reservation and they sat us in the valentines couple room. The waiter took 20 mins to take our drink order then another 20 mins to take our food order. Every time we needed something the waiter was never around so we had to flag someone else down. The food was very good but I will probably never come back just because of the service. With a $400 bill I expected much more.

We stopped by here during restaurant week for their unorthodox set up where patrons sit side by side like at a bar. The mussels were well seasoned and tasted great. Both the tartare and the scallops were crafted well and rich in flavors. I look forward to coming back here again
