We recently stopped at Dave’s Bar and Grill in Lafayette with high hopes of enjoying a meal at a small, local establishment. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired, and I feel it’s important to share our perspective in the hopes of fostering improvement.
Upon entering, we were immediately struck by a sense of unwelcome. The server didn’t greet us or acknowledge our presence, which set an uncomfortable tone right from the start. We had to actively seek her attention just to place a simple drink order. Even then, there was no friendly greeting or basic pleasantries exchanged. We were hoping for a warm, welcoming experience typical of small-town eateries, but what we encountered was quite the opposite.
The server’s lack of engagement continued throughout our visit. We weren’t offered menus until we requested them, and there was no effort to make us feel at ease or appreciated as customers. Simple courtesies like saying “hi,” “thank you,” or even making eye contact were noticeably absent. This was particularly disheartening because we made a conscious effort to be polite and respectful, using phrases like “yes, please,” “thank you,” and “yes, ma’am.”
We understand that everyone has off days, and we genuinely hope that was the case here. However, the consistent lack of basic customer service made our visit uncomfortable and disappointing. We chose to stop at Dave’s Bar and Grill specifically to support a small business and engage with the local community. We believe that such establishments thrive on creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that encourages patrons to return and spread the word.
In the spirit of constructive feedback, we would like to suggest a few areas for improvement. First and foremost, a warm greeting upon arrival can make a significant difference in setting a positive tone. Acknowledging customers, offering menus promptly, and maintaining a friendly demeanor are fundamental aspects of good service. These small gestures go a long way in making guests feel valued and appreciated.
We truly believe that with some attention to customer service, Dave’s Bar and Grill has the potential to offer a wonderful dining experience. We hope our feedback is received in the spirit it’s given – as an opportunity for growth and improvement. We would love to see this establishment thrive and become a beloved spot in Lafayette.

I was unfortunately not impressed with the customer service or the food, it was definitely not worth the money I paid for it. The online menu is inaccurate, the lettuce on my burger was brown and the bun tasted like it was long past its due date, it needed to be throwin away. Definitely not a good example of perfectionism what so ever.

Bartender that waited on me for my late lunch was great. I was there after the lunch rush on a Monday so I had a quiet meal. All around it was a nice place. I am a OTR Truck Driver and a lot of times we get strange looks when enter regular restaurants not in Truck Stops and it was obvious we got out of a Big Truck. Not here the Bartender was just as friendly as you could ask for. Food was good too.

Place seemed to be normal bar. Turns out its a nice bar. Staff were very friendly. Prices seemed normal but we were just looking for a snack and a pop and ordered tots and fries and holy cow they were great they were huge portions cooked nicely . there were 3 of us. One order of fries and one order of tots the 3 of us were stuffed. Will come back anytime im in the area.

If you’re looking for a mouth-watering burger or delicious handmade pizza, look no further! Dave’s Place is bound to please your belly! I have yet to be disappointed. Oh yeah, the drinks are great as well!

It’s home. I need say no more. Clean, fun, reasonably priced even for a blue collar. The food is great. Suitable for a family fun meal or a singles night out. Come to Lafayette Dave’s place, you will not be disappointed.

Good small town bar with several events during the summer like car and bike nights. Decent selection of tap beers and a better selection of bottled beers. Good food options, friendly staff and remodeled restrooms.

Nice bar. It seemed clean and prices were good. The bartender seemed mad because a group came in and she actually had to work in the middle of the day instead of just sitting there. I would go back.
