TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

One of the best chicken I have ever tried. It was truly delicious. The place itself felt warm, cute and full of positive energy. I also want to thank Patricia; she was very kind, attentive and sincere. This made the whole experience even better and I would definitely visit again.

Maybe I’m jaded being from Tennessee (the home of Hot Chicken) but Dave’s just isn’t “it”. I love heat and will regularly order the hotest options on menus, I ordered the Hot and the flavor was just disgusting, not appetizing in the least. The fries were pretty tasty and crispy. The Mac N Cheese was an abomination, WHY IS IT ALSO MADE SPICY with the same seasoning. I thought ordering a “milkshake” at the end of the meal might make it all better, but it isn’t even blended, just a soggy vanilla ice cream topped with some chosen toppings. $50 for 2 people to eat here too… I know the reviews make it sound amazing, but if you have tastebuds, I would look elsewhere for your hot chicken . Ok Bye!

Visited for the first time ever. My gf and I both ordered the 2 sliders meal. It was good… although I’m eager to return and just try the tenders, which appear first on the menu. Upon returning and trying the chicken alone by itself, I could easily upgrade this to a 5.

⚠️ TO THE SPICE LOVERS OUT THERE ⚠️ Many reviewers say that it’s really hot chicken. If you eat spicy foods regularly and have a higher tolerance, I would suggest ordering extra hot or the hottest option available. I tried hot which is 2 below the hottest available option. It had heat to it, but it wasn’t in the optimal area of satisfaction VS spice. Coming from a person that eats more spicy things than the average person.

Nonetheless I enjoyed the meal and absolutely clobbered it. The pickles offered on the side are a nice touch. They taste fresh, and I’m sure go well with any slider or tender. I chose to eat them on their own, which I imagine can be a nice spice break if you order one of the hotter options. The sliders that we had (pictured) had cheese added… and alongside the coleslaw I’m sure numbed some of the pain.

Overall as a spice lover… I was left satisfied but wondering just how good it could get. So I recommend if you like spicy spicy things try extra hot at a minimal. If you don’t like spice at all order something much less and you will still have an enjoyable experience. It’s good chicken no doubt, blows Caine’s out of the water as far as quality goes. Small, simple menu that delivers the execution you expect from a chain with such dedication to smaller perfections!

“Had a great experience at Davis Hot Chicken. The chicken was fresh, crispy, and full of flavor, and the spice level was exactly what I ordered. Portions were solid, service was fast, and the staff were friendly. Definitely worth trying if you like hot chicken. I’ll be coming back.”

We tried the ‘Not Chicken’ at Dave’s recently, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. Not only was the flavor profile off from what we expected, but we also ended up feeling quite ill afterward. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for.

Dave’s Hot Chicken: A Mixed Bag

We recently tried Dave’s Hot Chicken in Westminster and left with mixed opinions. I leaned toward giving it 4 stars, while my husband felt it was more of a 2—so let’s call it somewhere in between.

We ordered the chicken sliders with coleslaw as the side instead of fries. The total came to $20 for two sliders and slaw, which felt a bit pricey for what we received. Each slider was essentially a large chicken tender on a bun, with sauce provided on the side and poured over chicken.

The flavors were decent, but there wasn’t anything particularly unique or memorable. The sandwich was enjoyable in the moment but didn’t leave a lasting impression. It felt like once it’s eaten, it’s just… gone. Not bad at all, just not something we’d crave again right away.

Portion-wise, it wasn’t very filling. If you’re hungry, this might not quite hit the mark. Because honestly, if your stomach isn’t full, your mind isn’t fulfilled. The concept is somewhat similar to Raising Cane’s, same chicken tender concept with the added twist of six spice levels, which is a nice touch for those who like heat.

Overall, it was a decent experience – Worth trying once.

The chicken was really good. We ordered mild, medium and hot to try a variety.

All were delicious.

Sometimes hard to find a parking space but glad we finally found one to try the chicken.

The restaurant was clean.

The bathrooms were clean.
