TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dave’s Hot Chicken: Where My Confidence Went to Die (Happily)
This was my second pilgrimage to Dave’s Hot Chicken, and I went in feeling dangerous.
The first time? I got Extra Hot. Loved it. Crushed it. Walked out feeling like a responsible adult with a healthy respect for capsaicin and an inflated sense of self-worth.
So naturally, this time I thought:
“Let’s try Hot… and a Reaper. What could possibly go wrong?”
Friends…
I am an EMT.
I deal with trauma.
I’ve seen things.
I’ve been places.
I have never in my life encountered a sauce that truly humbled me — until the Reaper.
That Reaper slider didn’t just bring heat.
It brought existential questions.
It reached into my soul, rearranged my life priorities, and whispered,
“You are not who you think you are.”
I would genuinely like to meet the mythical creature who can casually eat the Reaper and then go about their day. I don’t fear many things, but I now respect that person from a safe distance.
And yet…
Despite being spiritually humbled and physically reminded that I am, in fact, mortal — it was SO. DANG. GOOD.
The chicken is unreal.
The seasoning is perfection.
The pain is optional (apparently, for some people).
I work EMS in Cody, Wyoming, and we run transfers up to Billings — and let me tell you, Dave’s will ALWAYS be my first food stop. Not “one of.” Not “maybe.”
Always.
Because nothing says “quality patient care” like showing up well-fed, slightly sweating, and deeply respectful of Dave’s Hot Chicken.

I never give reviews but I would love to give a big shout-out to the young gentleman named Chase that took our order. He was very professional, friendly and helpful with helping us with our very first time here at Dave’s Hot Chicken here in Billings. The team looked very young but they were hard working boys that have strong work ethic. Chase has a very bright future ahead of him.
The restaurant in itself is super clean, neat, and well taken care of. Tables so clean.. I feel like I could eat off of them as is. Good amount of customers coming in and out of this restaurant. Kudos to this team!!!

Wow, I have not ever had a reason to do a fast food restaurant review. But this felt different, the second I walked I was welcomed into the restaurant and she was extremely helpful since I’ve never been here before and recommended the number 3.. which I can confirm if it’s your first time coming here.. get it. You get the chicken strip and slider.. and the slider is more a big chicken sandwich. The food was awesome, I do think this beats canes just because of the seasoning and they offer ranch.

Update: Corporate reached out about my review and went out of their way to make it right. I am really impressed.
I was trying to figure out dinner and this place looked good. The staff were really nice and the food came out quickly. I liked their simplified menu and it sped up ordering. All the food was delicious and very filling. The chicken fingers and sliders are huge. I wish I would have gotten more heat since their heat scale is accurate. My only compact is the fries were soggy and not crispy at all.

They wasted my time before and after getting my order. They wasted my money by not giving me what I ordered AND the tip I was compelled to give to a machine. They did nothing to correct their error.
I generally like Dave’s no matter what town I’m in but to say I wasn’t impressed would be an understatement.
Having to order from a screen and then being compelled from the screen to give it a tip is really an insult not to mention annoying. There was only two other parties there when I got there and they were already eating but it took them about 25 minutes to serve me. When I finally got my food I left to get back to my hotel room only to find out that my take out order was not correct and it tasted like it was sitting much longer than my short was. It was impossible to reach the restaurant directly and I was directed to go the website to contact the manager only to be told that they would do better next time.

We were heading back to Helena and needed something to eat while traveling. Decided to try someplace we’d never been. Glad we did. It was delicious. Got our daughter the nuggets and fries. More than she could eat but allowed us to sample them. Nice delicious chunks of real chicken breast.. cooked perfectly! My wife and I each got the single slider. At someplace a slider is a very small miniature sandwich. NOT at Dave’s! It us basically a chicken breast on a regular sized bun. We got them with mild sauce. I thought the heat of mild was perfect.. my wife thought it a bit too warm. Next time she’ll get the next lower heat sauce.. (“less mild”?) We shared our daughter’s fries with the house fry sauce. They too were really good!!!
Be prepared for a bit of a wait. Each order is prepared individually, so the line (we were in the driveway thru) moved slowly. But we would say the food was DELICIOUS and worth the wait! We will gladly eat there again!

Their chicken slider sandwiches are awesome!! Soo crispy on the outside and the inside is as tender as can be. Great flavors and the prices are good too. I mean really good! You can actually eat lunch with two people for $25. Fries are delicious!!!…..The only thing I didn’t like was the noise. Music was very loud.

We Ordered Dave#4, with extra hot spice, the service was quick, the seating arrangements were spacious, the waitress exclusively stressed the need of the tip, the chicken was tasty. not too crowded. overall satisfied, yes one last thing, the drinks cola had no taste, less soda and more water added.
