TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A.
In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Don’t even waste your money anymore on this place. To say the quality and portion size has gone downhill would be an understatement…for the price you pay, you would think you would get more food than you actually do. What used to be full sized chicken sandwiches has turned into a small tender on a bun and a few fries…and IDK if they changed recipes or what, because this place used to be fantastic with large portions, now its just cheap bland tasting food that couldn’t fill a toddler up… I can get better chicken at any corner store or gas station for half the price.

Well, this visit was disappointing. The food is NOT hot. And it wasn’t much chicken. Very thin piece that are luke-warm.
I ordered a number 1. She rung it up “to-go” but I was dining in. I waited 2 min. Not enough time to drop fresh chicken… I started eating as soon as she gave me the food. So I know it wasn’t fresh. I guess the do have a warmer light or something back there.
The French fries were cold too.

Dave’s Hot Chicken in Warren, Michigan, is an absolute delight! Their chicken tenders and sliders are cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and with just the right amount of kick. The variety of heat levels ensures there’s something for everyone, from mild to extra hot. The sliders are a must-try, with tender chicken sandwiched between fluffy buns and complemented by tangy pickles. The service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. Whether you’re a hot chicken enthusiast or new to the scene, Dave’s Hot Chicken promises an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended!

If I could give this location –5 stars, –50 stars, or file for emotional damages, I would. They honestly need a new rating scale just for this place—one that drops low enough to become a geological measurement. What I experienced wasn’t just “bad service.” It was a full-blown anthropological study in how customer service can completely disintegrate before your eyes.
The disaster began the second I touched the door handle. Before I even stepped inside, the cashier hollered—actually barked—“WHAT CAN I GET YOU?” with the warmth of a parking officer writing a ticket at 5:01 PM. No “hello,” no “welcome,” not even the basic nod strangers give each other in elevators. Just hostility hurled across the counter with the grace of a brick through a window.
And THEN—after setting the tone somewhere between “miserable” and “why did I come here”—this same cashier had the nerve to ask me to leave a review. Well, here you go.
The store looked clean, but probably because the two employees were endlessly sweeping like they were scrubbing away the last of their hope. Meanwhile, my food sat untouched on the counter for 15+ minutes, abandoned and forgotten. No communication. No urgency. No acknowledgment that customers existed on the physical plane. It felt like watching a workplace simulation running on glitch mode.
Enter Ms. Amayah. Since she made sure her name was known, here’s her spotlight. She stared at my food like it was a museum exhibit—strictly for viewing, never for touching. She didn’t acknowledge it, hand it to me, or pretend to care. She let my $30 meal cool to the same temperature as the customer service: Arctic.
Yes—THIRTY dollars. For cold chicken. The only meal I had all day.
When I asked for it to be remade, the look I got was iconic—the expression of someone who’d just been asked to solve a complex math equation or file my taxes, not simply prepare warm food. They remade it, but with the enthusiasm of a group project partner forced to finally do their share. No refund. No apology. Not even basic respect.
The entire experience turned into a performance piece titled “Customer Service: But Make It Hostile.”
Since the cashier insisted on a review, and since I like to honor people’s wishes:
Dear Dave’s Hot Chicken Headquarters, Corporate, Management—anyone who cares:
Please take a field trip to your Warren location. Bring a notebook. You will witness a masterclass in how to drive customers away one cold chicken tender at a time. Consider replacing or retraining staff with people who:
• Understand what “customer service” means
• Acknowledge customers exist
• Aren’t allergic to handing out food
• Don’t act like politeness is painful
• Realize that waiting 15+ minutes for cold food is not acceptable
With years of kitchen experience myself, I can confidently say nothing about this visit was acceptable. Not the attitude. Not the wait. Not the cold food. Not the energy. Not the overall “why are you making us do our jobs?” vibe.
I walked in hungry. I walked out irritated, disappointed, and questioning the meaning of life. And I absolutely will not be returning.
Heres your review you asked for <3

Freshly prepared and quick. Reaper heat is definitely hot hot hot. “Sliders” are full size sandwiches so one with fries is quite filling. Tables were clean and staff was nice. As far as prices go, it’s in the pricier side. Sandwich and fry combos DO NOT come with a drink so plan on paying an extra $2.59 for your drink. Per person with drink plan on paying $13+ for one sandwich or $16+ for the two sandwich combo. Fries were seasoned and fresh as well. I’d eat here again but if you have a family, it’s gonna cost you.

First time trying this place today, not bad. It’s fairly simple and straightforward. There’s about four things on the menu, and that actually makes the ordering process easy. Less confusion. You get tenders, sliders, fries, or cheese fries. Of course, some complementary side items like Mac and Cheese and slaw. They also have an alternative “Not” chicken menu with the same items just paralleled with cauliflower. Sauce ranges from 0-7, no spice to reaper. I landed on medium and was not disappointed, I could have gone a bit hotter, but I was looking for flavor the first time out and not overwhelming heat. The chicken was crispy underneath the sauce. Which was good and evenly coated. Same for the fries, crispy under the seasoning and cheese with a good flavor as well. The Dave’s sauce is spicy mayo-esque but not hot at all. Still a good complement to the entire meal, fries included. Facility was bright and clean, and the staff was friendly and quick to take my order and give advice on meal selection. Definitely will try again and increase the heat.

I came here for dinner last night with a group of friends and was very satisfied with my whole visit. I’ve been here once before but today the employee at the counter, Raidah, was incredibly helpful in helping us decide on what to order. The dining room was clean and we were all happy with our dining experience.

Everything here was great from the food, to the atmosphere, and a huge thank you to the staff for making it even more awesome! Not sure if I spelt his name correctly but Masum, Kazi, Farian and a couple other people made it so much better. Again huge thank you to the team for the great customer service and amazing food! Didn’t know the hot was that spicy lol! Definitely will be back for more.

We ordered two Dave #3 You get a tender, a big slider chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were seasoned very well. My son got mild and mine was medium, next time I’m going to move our heat up one level. Everything was hot and fresh. Definitely recommend.
