TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

We’ve been wanting to try Dave’s for a long time and decide to drive an hour and a half. Cashier was pleasant and the food was very inconsistent. We purchased slider/tender meal and a two tender meal. Both of our tenders were pretty small compared to what we were expecting from other Dave’s restaurants. The taste was okay but could’ve been more seasoned. The fries were cold after just walking out the door with them. Mind you, we ate in the car. We were very underwhelmed and disappointed after hearing such sterling reviews. And for the price? No thanks.
UPDATE: We thought we’d give this location another try and we weren’t disappointed. The chicken was big, juicy, hot and seasoned well. The fries were hot, fresh and also seasoned to perfection. Definitely a departure from our last visit. We’ll definitely be returning.

Don’t really write reviews but this location has gone down hill. For starters I drive from Fort Bragg to here which is over an hour. I haven’t been in the past couple of months and the cravings came around so I brought a group of friends.
For starters my friend made a correction on his #3, so the cashier deleted another #3 that was ordered within the group, so we had to reorder his on a whole another ticket once catching that error that some food items were missing.
That’s not really the bigger problem we had though. We ordered the 10 slider hot box consisting of 5 hot and 5 mild. They either messed up the order of the sliders (putting 5 on each side) or they seasoned the hot chicken right beside the mild chicken. One side of chicken would be hot and the other completely mild.
My girlfriend has an extreme spice tolerance and she was extremely uncomfortable after taking her first bite of her “mild” chicken. To the point of her sweating and throwing up in the bathroom. I tested almost every slider by biting it and it was just inconsistent on wether it was hot or mild so she just powered through as to not ruin the night although she was literally crying from sweat.
Definitely the worst experience I’ve had at this location and I won’t be taking the hour+ trip anymore, place has gone downhill.
$160 bucks for mistake after mistake.

I always order from this place, but today was the worst experience. I ordered all coleslaw and they only gave me one, and it didn’t taste or look like it normally does. The fries weren’t crispy either. On top of that, the sauce portions were very small, and the staff member got upset when I asked for sauce and was rude. Usually the employees here are respectful, but the one today was very unprofessional.

I had an amazing experience at Dave’s Hot Chicken! I ordered the Dave Burger with the extra hot level and some Nashville hot tenders at a hot level.
Let me tell you, the tenders paired with the honey sauce were absolutely incredible—wow! The sweetness perfectly balanced the heat, making each bite a flavor explosion.
The burger was just as fantastic, packed with flavor and just enough spice to keep things exciting.
The atmosphere was lively, and the staff were super friendly. I definitely recommend Dave’s Hot Chicken if you’re looking for some delicious Nashville hot chicken!

My son and I stopped in for lunch and had a great experience! The staff was so nice and helped us decide on meals. Then the food came out and my goodness it was delicious! The chicken was perfectly fried and the fries were so crispy. Everything was perfectly seasoned exactly how she described. The kale slaw was so good I had to go back up and order more. No notes. I can’t wait to come back again. Thanks for the great experience!

Ordered online about 20 minutes ahead and still waited about 20 extra minutes inside for my order. Honestly, I was hype to try this place, but after further review. The chicken was almost flavorless ? It’s like nothing has any real taste to it. The chicken outside was “Spicy” but the chicken flavor overall wasn’t seasoned. I ordered Popeyes quickly after throwing this in the trash. 🙁

I love Dave’s Hot Chicken, and this location did not disappoint! The food was tender, flavorful, and just as good as my first experience. Much better than the Wake Forest location, which was a letdown. This spot really reminded me why I love Dave’s!

This place is so cool! The food is always hot and delicious. I would’ve taken a picture but I demolished my meal before I thought to take a pic lol. The artwork throughout the restaurant is so detailed and colorful. I’ve been here a couple of times and I just met the new General Manager, Tammy, and she has already made amazing changes. One being that the milkshake machine is on and boy was it good! They also have slushees, which I have enjoyed on my previous orders. Please give this place and try if you haven’t because I promise you’ll end up going back again!
