TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

If you’re looking for some good chicken on a lunch break, or any time really, this is a great option. I had their “slider” (This is really a full size sandwich) and fries. You can pick one of 5 different heat levels for your chicken, ranging from “mild” to “reaper”. I chose “hot” and it was spicy enough to get your attention without making you regret your decision. The fries are amazing, especially when paired with Dave’s own sauce. If you want ketchup, they are one of the few places left around that still give you plenty. Oh, and for anyone who likes pickles, they got you covered. They don’t hold back with the pickles. They take your order, you pay and they give you a cup that you fill yourself while you wait for your order. They also are a popular option for delivery. If you haven’t tried this place yet, put it on your to-do list.

This definitely lives up to the hype. Very high quality with a good amount of food for the price. The large top loaded fries felt well over 5 lbs. Medium level spice was a perfect balance between pain and oily cayenne spice flavors. I look forward to trying other spice levels. The tenders are massive and moist on texture. I thought the food was good but the way people were going when it first opened did not match. I’m just now getting around to trying it because it was so slammed when they first opened. I think it’s average, about the same as any other chicken sandwich. It was good but for what I saw, I was expecting it to blow my mind. The service was great. They were nice and friendly. It’s nice inside. The prices are ok. I do think it’s a little pricey. You don’t get a drink with the combo. A $15 + combo should come with a drink. I would try it again but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. The parking is not the best.

I first tried to visit Dave’s Hot Chicken about two months ago, but the line was so long that I ended up leaving without ordering. That definitely piqued my curiosity — if people are willing to wait that long, it must be something special.
Fast forward to yesterday, I decided to give it another shot. This time, the lineup was much more manageable, so I went ahead and ordered. I’m really glad I did. The food was excellent — the chicken had a flavor that stands out from any other chicken place I’ve been to. It was crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with that signature heat that lives up to the hype.
The customer service was also solid — friendly staff and quick service made the whole experience smooth. We ordered mac and cheese for the kids, and they absolutely loved it. Creamy, cheesy, and comforting — it was a hit with them.
Overall, definitely worth the visit. Now I understand why people are willing to wait in those long lines. I’ll be back!

Finally got to eat here now that the busyness has dwindled some. First, the esthetics of the restaurant looks so fun and inviting with an edge to it. The service was great; the young lady greeted us with a smile and made sure to ask all the necessary questions to confirm the orders. The wait was short and the food came out fast and fresh. We were able to eat outside which was clean and comfortable. Hubby had the top-loaded fries and he was very impressed. I had 2 sliders combo with cheese fries and it was delicious! I love having the option of spice level and we both got lite mild. It was worth the money. We will definitely be back!

I love that section of Greensboro. Yeah the roads are funky. Best way to access is first crossover and laugh like a maniac as you drive about 100 feet wrong way to first entrance of restaurant…
But I digress.
I had the Mac and Cheese and tenders bowl…. Heavenly… Kid had a Tender plate. The pickles are a great touch and were delicious.
Both of us absolutely loved our meals. The chicken was moist and cooked too perfection. Just enough heat to balance the flavor and of course absolutely perfectly fried chicken.
Service was great, even though it was extremely busy and the atmosphere was upbeat positive and clean. Will definitely beat back as soon as possible.
Also, if in the area go up to the next light, hang a U-turn laugh like a maniac as you go across three lanes of opposing traffic and pull into the shopping area across the street and stop at Acme comics….
