Dave’s was fun last millennium and still is. We had post game pizza and wings, played darts, pool, and listened to some great music. Does it have a Michelin star? Nope. That ain’t why you’re here. Underage kids are welcome (there were a bunch of young ones, including my 14yo daughter), but they pay a cover too.

Only 4 stars because it’s tough to get a 5 out of me. Changed the pizza to 5. Place was recommended for the best pizza in Starkville, I haven’t had them all, but definitely the best thus far!!! I’m only in town another week but will definitely order again before I leave. The bar/restaurant is not part of the motel, but you enter into both parking lots. Atmosphere is young with outdoor seating, local draft beer on tap. It says kid friendly but it seems more for adults. I’m sure the locals know, but if you’re in town it’s a must on your list.

Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern was a gem my wife and I found but had previously passed up because we thought it was a place connected in with the Red Roof Inn located near it. We decided to take a gamble and give them a visit anyway.
Y’all this is the reason we live for gambles and so glad we did. This place was a hole in a wall with an AMAZING ambience, great group activities like darts and pool, live music, great bar selections, and CRAZY delicious food. Needless to say, we doubled back 2 nights in a row.
My wife is vegan and I’m vegetarian so we have been pretty limited on places that serve anything but a veggie burger for us and typical sides around Starkville. When we took the menu into our hands and saw falafel, hummus, veggie burger, cauliflower buffalo wings, cauliflower buffalo wrap, veggie pizza, etc. They CLEARLY took the time to look out for their vegan and vegetarian crowd and not just grab veggie meat burgers and call it a win. They also have great desserts and drinks on brew and top shelf. The beignets were as the French would probably say – un petit bout de paradis .
If you are in Starkville, do yourself a “flavor” and make this one of your stops for an experience and meal that definitely won’t disappoint. ️ #HappyEating

Stopped in on Dec 27th. First time I had visited in well over a decade and it was as great as I remembered. Bill Cooke was on stage and the staff and crowd were super friendly. Great place with lots of live music and good food. Wish I had a Dave’s where I live.

Pretty much what you’d expect for a college town sports bar adjacent to the Red Roof Inn. Gyro wrap was ok, nachos had been sitting around a while, pizza was good. Men’s restrooms are frat house quality. Beer is the safe bet here, and they even have Guinness. As long as the dropping ceiling by the bar doesn’t collapse you’ll be fine.

I am Celiac and they have an awesome gluten free crust. Just find the Red Roof Inn and go into the parking lot. Highly recommending and we live in Huntsville Alabama and have been here 3 times in less than a year.

Fun old school college town bar/restaurant with a compelling history…great pregame spot for MSU sports…plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with pool tables, darts, live music stage and TVs everywhere…extensive menu…food is well prepared with large portions…enjoyed seeing Bulldogs sports memorabilia covering walls…loved dark, dive bar setting with friendly staff and patrons

When we saw this place online, said it was family friendly so we went for the wings. Awesome wings but the kids didn’t like the atmosphere. It was very dark, had a musty odar inside and the waitress didn’t have a friendly demeanor. But we did all enjoy the wings. For families I just suggest doing take out.

Had the most amazing experience at Dave’s. It was for the Drag Brunch they have once a month and it was absolutely incredible. The FOOD IS DELICIOUS, the service was prompt and the entertainment was superb. Great job!
