Offbeat counter-serve chain offering creative sandwiches & a classic-rock atmosphere.

Love the new smaller menu, it is much easier to navigate than before! Delicious food, friendly staff and a much cleaner look than it used to have with the random pictures of old rock musicians. You can really tell the effort being put in to bring this place back to its original glory!

Private equity got involved and changed all the food. Ingredients taste cheap. The signature sauce has been replaced with what tastes like plain mayo with some dry basil flakes added to look like the original sauce. The bread is worse now, and the rolls are bigger but filled with less meats and veggies. Unique menu items have been replaced with nasty cafeteria recipes.
A classic Cleveland shop has been turned into a slop mill. If I wanted food like this there are dozens of options out there. Dave’s Cosmic Subs isn’t Dave’s or cosmic at all, anymore. Another example of investment bros ruining everything.

It may be located in the same building, but do not be fooled— this is NOT the same Dave’s establishment. Not only have they replaced all of the art and decor with AI slop, but the food has also been downgraded. Different bread and less ingredients within, but the prices have not gone down. I was back in town and this was the one place I wanted to eat and I will likely never return.

The recent reviews are unfortunately accurate, it’s now a corporate buyout and one of the best sub places in Cleveland has been ruined. The ingredients are noticeably cheaper and the sauce doesn’t even relatively taste the same anymore. The logo that used to be Dave himself is now AI generated art and everything inside feels so soulless. RIP to one of the Cleveland gems, don’t waste your money here.

Went to Dave’s Cosmic subs for the first time since their PE ownership change, and I gotta say increased shareholder value tastes like wet dogfood. The bread is no longer crisp but mushy, the sandwiches no longer over flow with toppings so much that they complicate consumption ( but in a fun way), the lobby is clean and no longer has cool rock and roll swag / detritus all over the place. A whole menu of bangers ebitda’d into mediocrity

I walked into Dave’s and immediately wondered: what corporate PE bro bought this place out? The wonderful hand painted walls have been sanitized and covered with AI art. It looks terrible. And the food… the sandwiches are totally subpar, nothing like what they used to be. It’s truly sad. Thank you for ruining a Cleveland institution.

The staff was nice. The taste was good, but the order was wrong for both sandwiches, and the meat portions are hilariously small… especially for the high price

Been coming here for cover 15 years and have never been disappointed. A must do whenever we are visiting the area. Tastes even better than it looks with fresh homemade bread. Be sure to bring home a bottle of Dave Cosmic Sauce for your at home use.

Absolutely horrible experience. My family and I ordered 3 subs at 1:05, and over an hour later at 2:10 they were still not ready after we watched people that ordered 30-40 minutes after us already get their subs. I’m not sure how it takes 4 workers over an hour to make 3 subs but apparently it’s possible. We finally asked for a refund and were met with attitude initially – very poor customer service. I know this restaurant really does have good food, but unfortunately when your employees are entirely rude and disorganized when taking care of customers the experience is ruined.

Ordered online on 11/23/25 for pickup. When I went to pickup my order the store was not open despite it being within hours. Unfortunately, I reached out via the website and attempted to call, but was unable to connect to get the charge on my card resolved for goods I never received.
