Dave’s Cafe is a great spot in Cloudcroft for some good old mountain comfort food. The Club Sandwich is a classic, but the Ultimate Southwest Melt is where it’s at with its buttery sourdough and green chile. It’s the perfect no-frills place to eat after checking out the Lincoln National Forest.

My review are just my personal experience they are never intended to prevent someone from trying a place as people’s opinions and experiences can vary….that said great food and staff was friendly. Was very dead on a Saturday night, but that’s OK. Large portions. I had the burrito deluxe my wife had the rueben. Both we exactly as we ordered. The staff each check on us periodically. Atmosphere little slow but we didn’t mind. Great job and many thanks…p.s. the chili on the burrito was spicy and I might say almost as good as my own. Thumbs up!!!

The food was fresh and delicious! The Willy burger had all the goods and every bit of it was delicious, easily sent to the top of my list for amazing burgers. The fries were exactly what I expect from what looks like fresh cut fries. Onion rings were great!

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Staff was super friendly! The chicken salad was very fresh and tasty. Homemade red and green salsas were excellent! I skipped the salad dressing and just used the salsa. Perfect combo!

We had the worst service ever! The waitress Riley was terrible! She treated us like total crap never refilled our drinks! Talked to us with an attitude! Then when we had HAIR IN OUR FOOD the guy in kitchen helped us out but the waitress was livid she just went on a rampage she wouldn’t refill our drinks she wouldn’t come back up to us! Then turn around and we check out and there automatic gratitude!!Absolutely not that is horrible service!! She obviously didn’t care about us because he knew no matter what she would get a tip!!! So this restaurant needs to either take automatic gratitude off or tell their waitresses that they still have to wait on their tables even though the tip is automatic! This was ridiculous I’ve never been to an establishment more terrible than this!! And we go to check out and even though there was hair he’s like well we still have to get paid… YOU GET PAID WHEN YOU GUVE GREAT SERVICE AND FOOD and the appetizers are all store bought and just warmed up!WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK AND WILL RECOMMEND

This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a casual restaurant. We were told there was a bit of a wait, which we were fine with. However, we ended up waiting for over an hour. We were checked in on maybe once, and the service was great at first but became extremely lackluster. The food was pretty good, but not at all worth it. There were no explanations or apologies given for the extreme wait.

We were a party of six. Two adults, four kids. We waited an hour and a half for our food to come out, they brought out two of my kids plates, then 15-20 minutes later brought out my husbands and my plate. I asked where my other two children’s kids meal were and it turned out the server never put them in… so there went another 15-20 minutes waiting for the last two kids combos… it was a horrific waiting experience.. food was decent but not worth returning to when we visit.

Avoid This Place – Average Food, Disorganized and Poor Service
We decided to give Dave’s Place a try after finding the wait too long at the brewery and pizza spot down the street. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a regrettable choice. While the food was neither good nor bad—just average—the service was on another level of bad.
Our party of four adults and one child ordered soft drinks and hamburgers. Contrary to most restaurants, at this place you don’t receive a check at your table; instead, you go to the front to pay at the end of your meal. When the manager totaled our bill at $155, I immediately sensed something was off. We hadn’t ordered any appetizers or alcohol, as they weren’t serving alcohol at the time because their liquor license had expired.
When I asked to see the breakdown of our bill, the manager became visibly agitated. She explained their policy of automatically adding a 25% gratuity for parties of four or more. Upon further review of the bill, I discovered two extra hamburgers that we neither ordered nor received.
I tried to explain the mistake to both the manager and the waitress who took our order, but they were dismissive and unhelpful. The manager even insulted me, insinuating that I was trying to avoid paying for the food I ordered. It felt like she was trying to gaslight me into paying the inflated total and leaving quietly.
Eventually, a man with better customer service skills emerged from the back. I was finally able to explain the issue to him, and he removed the extra charges from the bill. I paid the corrected amount and left, but the entire experience was deeply frustrating.
I’ve dined at countless places across different cities and countries, but this was the first time I’ve encountered such disorganization and hostility. It was a disappointing way to end an otherwise enjoyable trip to Cloudcroft.
Moral of the story: The food is okay, but the service is chaotic. Double-check your bill to avoid being overcharged.

This place was closed for a little while because they were short staffed, they are also working on renewing their liquor license so no beer is being served at the moment. They still have live music and delicious food however!
I love their BLT’s, Meatball subs, and the Heartstopper burger is absolutely delicious and will satisfy even the biggest appetite. Their onion rings are so delicious, they remind me of Sonic onion rings which are my all time favorite.
If you’re not looking for beer and simply want a delicious meal then look no further. This place will satisfy.
The place is clean and so are their bathrooms.
A very chill place to have a nice ice cold beer and some yummy food.
I absolutely love their French Dip Sandwich, it’s delicious! Packed with roast beef, cheese and a delicious au jus sauce to dip it in. I also enjoy their Philly Cheesesteak and their Country Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both filling and tasty. When it comes to appetizers, you can’t go wrong with their fried mushrooms.
The service is good, the staff is friendly. Prices are comparable to others in the area. They do offer a variety of beers on tap, the selection changes periodically so it’s a great place to try out something new. They also have beer on cans and bottles, as well as a nice selection of wines.
This place has a very relaxed atmosphere, kid friendly. If you’re hungry, give this place a try! Honestly, try their French Dip Sandwich!
