Davelle: A Cozy Japanese Cafe Experience in New York
Reviews
For dessert, we tried the berry & cream cheese and black sesame & cream cheese on Japanese milk bread. Beautifully presented, though not my personal favorites. Coffee and cappuccino were very good.
Service was a bit reserved, but polite.
The restaurant itself is quite small, so seating is limited — we didn’t have a reservation and waited about 25 minutes on the waitlist. There’s also a charming café next door that belongs to the restaurant and is worth checking out.
Today I went back to Davelle with my childhood friend. I like that it’s cozy and I’m obsessed with the matcha coffee jelly drink and the black sesame latte. SO GOODT!!!! TOAST!!!!! Cute and DELISHUS. Biggest complaint is the pasta plate being humongous ??? Like there is a plop of spaghetti in the center and a whole frisbee serving platter sized ikea textured plastic plate is taking up the whole table!! Mind you the tables here aren’t big!!!!! What if I wanted two pastas ?????? Anyways love it here.
I can confidently say I’ve had the best Matcha Lemonade here — hands down. We also tried the Hot Chocolate, Lemon Honey Toast, and Karaage Chicken. I went with my folks, and they absolutely loved everything.
The Lemon Honey Toast was really good, though honestly a bit overpriced for what it is. Still delicious, just could be priced better. The other delicacies, however, were amazing and totally worth the price.
Overall, a charming café with unique flavors that are worth trying at least once. Definitely glad we stopped by!
Soft light, worn walls, and food that feels comforting without being heavy.
Everything feels simple, thoughtful, and quietly done right.
A small corner in New York City that makes you slow down, even just for a moment.
The only downside is the wait — it’s a small space, and during brunch hours, you might have to queue for a while. Prices are slightly high for portion sizes, but the quality is undeniable. If you’re into calm, cozy cafés with heartfelt food and Japanese-style aesthetics, Davelle is the perfect choice. It’s peaceful, authentic, and truly feels like a little piece of Japan in New York City.
The ambiance is charming, though the space is quite small, so I’d recommend arriving right when they open. It’s a great spot to bring out-of-town visitors, but as a local, it’s not somewhere I’d frequent. Still, it’s undeniably a cute and memorable space
Nice brunch spot ☕️
Lemon toast wasn’t my fave, but the berry & cream cheese was great
Wanna try the pasta, curry, and black sesame next time
There are 2 separate parts of Davelle, the right side is a small espresso cafe and the left side a small restaurant.
I just went in the espresso cafe for a cappuccino to go, and was not disappointed.
Better coffee than most shops in the area.
