10/10 would definitely recommend! The customer service was awesome. The young lady at the counter took her time with every customer insuring they had a wonderful experience and an accurate order. I ordered the smothered orka and rice and my sides were smothered turkey necks, salad and bread. It was absolutely delicious. Big momma was in the kitchen cooking that meal. The orka was full of meat and didn’t lack in anything. The turkey necks were so tender and seasoned to perfection. Will highly recommend if you’re ever looking for a home cooked meal. Oh and let’s not forget about the price. $12 and some change for a plate that can definitely feed more than one person

First, the location is set wrong. It’s not near the highway, it’s toward the back near Smoothie King. But that’s irrelevant.
The atmosphere is meh. Nothing special but not bad. Personally, I’m not a fan of a restaurant with nothing more than a tv playing but that’s a personal preference. I find music more relaxing when I eat at a restaurant but to each his/her own.
Be mindful when you’re ordering as there is different price between cash and non-cash payments which is reflected at the point of sale just before you pay (unless you manage to spot the small printed label at the bottom of the sales terminal in 9 point font where most people wouldn’t look). Not a huge difference but a there is a fee added when you pay with debit/credit. And a 20% tip is automatically applied however there is an option to adjust or remove the tip altogether before you pay so just be mindful of that (I tipped the 20%, hopefully it goes where it’s supposed to).
An “upcharge” (which wasn’t actually disclosed until after the sale but ok) of “$1” for a side substitute was actually $2. So again, do watch when you order as a $14.99 lunch combo ended up costing me over $23 (with tax included). $23.+ for 8 traditional wings and a some onions rings isn’t exactly my idea of economical.
The food is ok. Nothing to rave about. Not bad but not particularly amazing. I ordered the buffalo wings which had decent flavor but nothing overly special. The onion rings were bland, very little seasoning in the batter. Condiments provided were…ketchup and ranch….? Who eats ketchup with onion rings? Who does that? And buffalo wings demand bleu cheese, I will die on this hill! (Joking) Again, personal preferences, eat what ya like.
Service was fine. Staff was friendly enough and more than pleasant. If you’re in a rush, better be patient, especially at lunch time. Paid at 12:21, order didn’t come out until 12:46. Good bit of time to wait for takeout.
Overall I have to give it 2 stars. The price coupled with the extra upcharges and fees were the biggest turn off, the wait didn’t help and the food was slightly north of mediocre…it’s gonna be a pass for me. I would go back and try something else but if I wanted to wait around for an overpriced, mediocre product and get hit with a bunch of fees, I would just have lunch at the DMV (again, kidding, nothing is as bad as the DMV)

Coming from a person who believes in supporting the locals and small businesses owners, I will not be returning to this establishment. Although the food is delicious the customer service is not even subpar at best. This is not my first encounter either. I believe in second chances and people just having bad days but each time this establishment proves that they just can’t meet the standards of professionalism and providing a welcoming environment. I asked to speak to a manager so I can advise them of this and low and behold it was the manager who was rude, dismissive and unenthusiastic about serving the customers coming in to spend their hard earned money.

Great little cafe. We both got the Dat Burger and it did not disappoint. The onion rings are home made. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because my onions rings came out after I finished my burger.

This is my second time receiving bad services with the Cook Kim. The first time I ordered hot sausage poorboy with no tomatoes because I’m highly allergic to tomatoes and Kim put tomatoes on my poor boy. I returned the poor boy and Kim stated that don’t eat from here if you have to specialize your food.
My second incident was on yesterday I bought a club sandwich and asked for no tomatoes and no Swiss cheese again tomatoes and Swiss cheese was on my club alone with that I had a side stuff bell pepper most of the stuffing was in the container not in the bell pepper very cold.
My coworker had a stuff bellpepper and asked to substitute the Mac n cheese for extra veggies. The cook Kim stated no she can’t substitute they need to go somewhere else with their special orders.
I sent a lot of customers to your establishment and they stated that they are not returning because of Kim.

I ordered a cheeseburger on bun and then a Cheeseburger po-boy that were excellent. Then I ordered a shrimp on toast that came with exactly 7 shrimp. I called back to see if maybe I just got a bad sandwich and was told that’s the mandated amount of shrimp on the sandwich. I can get more shrimp on a sandwich from the gas station like Brother’s or Birdie’s. Dat Cafe gained and lost a customer all in the same weekend.
