Best subs and hands down they are above all the rest! This is a locally owned gem and if you want some good food then get there fast. Dagwood is my new personal favorite but I have enjoyed them all. Ham and cheese is spectacular! Enjoy! Try the cheese nibblers they smoke all their meats and cheeses on site.

Our family has enjoyed their amazing smoked meats and cheeses since I worked at Ames shovel plant in the early 1980s and they had a nearby location. I moved out of state in 1985, but we make a point to stop in anytime we are in the Parkersburg area.
Their veggie sub, with smoked Colby and banana peppers is my favorite sandwich ever, and one of my favorite meals.

The magic of this place is the bread. It’s amazing. And the filling is always good quantity. They people are really nice and unassuming. It’s sort of like a time capsule of a good old fashioned sandwich shop.

It’s a small place with 5 or 6 tables but staff is always kind and quick with making the food. It’s cheap but still tastes good. I would recommend if you had to feed a lot of people just because they are so reasonably priced

They’ve got the best smoked cheeses and meats. I always get a perfect sub that I order from Das Rookhas, and a nice conversation with the cook too. They offer subs, cheeses, and snacks to eat there or carry out. They also have a catering service I’ve never used but heard it’s really fabulous! Anytime I’m in the north end area I always have to stop by Das Rookhas to get my craving of Dagwood Sub, easy on the mayo satisfied.

I still crave subs from here. I will drive 1.5 hours for lunch as often as I can get away. I will be sad to see it go. Been frequenting since it was down the hill in the pink building, followed to below the net, and now here. The quality has never faultered.

The Dagwood was sooo good! Best sub sandwich I’ve had thus far from any sub shop, including all major well known sub shops. I haven’t tried any other sandwich or food from Dad Rookhaus, but the flavor of the Dagwood was excellent, it wasn’t the least but dry but rather juicy with flavor. Anyone who fancies a uniquely made Dagwood sandwich must give this one a go. I plan on making this place a mainstay on the foodie list and will continue trying menu items. I have heard the owner has been with this business for over forty years so that speaks for itself. Give it a go and support your local business owners in the process, you won’t regret it.

Had Das Rookhaus today for the first time since I moved away 10 years ago and it was even better than I remembered. We ordered 6 Smoked turkey subs to go. Sherry, the owner, was friendly and fast and the sandwiches were absolutely divine. Best $6 I’ve ever spent on a meal. Parkersburg is lucky to have a sandwich shop that smokes its own meats and cheeses and serves up delicious sandwiches at a great price.
