Overall good.

Table of 8 – most of us ordered the two-cut sharing plate (Striploin + Ribeye).

Meat arrived somewhat cold with the juices beginning to dry as if it had been resting for too long. Understandable for a table of 8, but disappointing nontheless.

Striploin fabulous – full of flavour, and tender to the point you almost question if it was cooked in a sous vide.
Ribeye not good – Tough, over-rested, and badly cut with stringy gristle throughout.

Accompaniments (fries, onion rings, 2 sauces) decent. Pepper sauce excellent.

Service no-frills/direct from an Irish lady manager who was very competent. This service style agrees with me, others’ milage may vary.

Always hesitant to eat at steakhouses. Even though Ireland has among the best beef in the world, somehow chefs consistently struggle with delivering it (at a €50+ pricepoint). Darwins doesn’t do much to move me on this.

Food was lovely, no complaints, but the cocktails were some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a restaurant in my life. The old fashioned and negroni tasted terrible, I sent the latter back and wisely switched to wine. She ordered a peach mojito that was basically warm with a tiny sludge of mostly melted crushed ice floating on the top and full of visibly spoiled mint. The bartender should be completely retrained from scratch.

Starters where average… steaks where really good, cam at the right degree of cooking (a rare thing in Dublin steakhosuses) and the sideswipe very nice as well.
The staff was super nice and friendly !!

Either it was already late in the evening or the chef left his post or Darwin got eaten by an iguana… What ever the reason Darwin the restaurant did not live up to its name and famous naturalist . Three dishes
Risotto
Pasta with shrimp
Toasted cheese bread

The risotto was actually good and they should make that dish a main and not an appetizer..
The pasta was over cooked aka beyond al dente and the sauce lacked any chefs imagination. The shrimp, previously frozen did not help the cause. The cheese bread , while plenty missed the crunch . It really should be toasted longer and use a cheese that offers flavor…
Service, we could feel they wanted us out and not in. Atmosphere has potential but need some work.

I booked Darwin’s for a pre-show meal with my partner because it was convenient to the hotel. We ordered a shared main course (a Porterhouse) even though we don’t like our steaks cooked the same way however the waiter helpfully suggested taking some away to cook longer. My god, it was fantastic! Nicest steak I’ve had in a while with a beautiful flavour even if it was cooked a bit less than I’d like. Sauces were fab and so we’re the sides even if they were a bit small. The bill was fairly high but in line with Dublin prices. The building could do with a bit of TLC though, the ceiling was leaking at the back and the frontage out to the street undervalues the food within.

i think its time has passed, everything was a bit dingy. they were out of wagyu even though it was still on the homepage, my steak was definitely not medium rare, the sides were good, so was the meat quality, the waiter was not too friendly

Totally loved the experience! The staff was the most amazing bunch and we were just super happy to be there and left very happy as well. It was great having my birthday dinner here. Another thing to note, they are great with children and they accommodated our needs in a flash. And the food is AMAZING! The steak (and pepper sauce) is out of this world! I don’t think I can describe with words how the whole experience made us happy.
