Reliable, consistent, fast, delicious. The yak burger is my go-to, but I also really love the chili; sometimes I’ll change it up and get the Lydia or the Havana. But mostly I want a big stack of lean protein so I get 2 yak patties. I pretty much always order ahead on their website to go and my food is virtually always ready in 15 minutes or less, and they are phenomenal about my customizations. (Sometimes I want cheddar instead of American cheese, or sometimes I’m on the run and have to go sans sauce, etc.) I really appreciate that. Highly recommend!!

I am so surprised by this place! I did not expect it to be this good. I got the Yak burger and got the medium rare patty (which as you might know is such a rare thing to get exactly what you asked for lol). Coleslaw salad was so good! No mayo, but it tastes amazing and got me back to childhood memories (Slavic sauerkraut flavor).
10/10 would definitely go back

Moved into the neighborhood recently and Dark Side of the Moo has quickly become a go-to for us. The food is delicious with lots of options, and when we make a special request, they always follow through (which anyone with dietary restrictions knows is not always a given). It helps that the music in the shop is great as well.

We were visiting from Philly for a Scout meeting and did a Google search for dinner before our event. Dark Side of the Moo came up and my son asked to go. We walked into this eccentrically decorated restaurant with a rubber alligator swinging on a spoon and stuffed furry animal heads smiling down on us. We loved it. My son got the pulled pork Mac & cheese and I got the lobster empanada. We split tater tots. Everything was soooo good and came out quick. Great place for quality food fast in Jersey City! We’d come back to try the exotic dishes like wild boar tacos and camel sliders, but for our first time the pulled pork was perfect!

Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance – definitely positive experience. Had a great conversation with the owner, Tyrone. He recommended the Bison Yak burger which was absolutely phenomenal. Very well cooked and flavorful. Great food with great customer service – can’t wait to try other things in the menu!

Came to pick up lunch from here as I was curious about aligator sausage sandwich. It was great sausage and I would probably come more for it if it were near my place (10-15 walking distance?) but could not tell much difference what’s unique about it compared to other good sausages. But again, it was very enjoyable sausage.

I was recommended this place by a friend 2 years ago and finally made it! The outlet is pretty small with 2 tables inside and 2 stools and they kept an additional 2 tables outside for the spring/summer season. The staff can do better in terms of receiving their customers. I placed an order for Mike bison burger, I chose the patty to be medium rare and to be topped with pickles, caramelized onions, cheese slice. The burger turned out well and was my first experience with bison meat, I really liked it. Looking forward to trying out other products as well!

We stumbled on this place and it’s very small but adorable. The menu is really interesting and we decided to try the yak burger and the kangaroo burger and they were both really tasty. Our fav was the ‘roo. Both were cooked perfectly. They were small burger sized or large slider size. We also got some loaded fries and Mac and cheese. We ordered the smalls for both and indeed the portions were small but tasty. I think the specialty burgers are reasonably, but sides are on the pricy side for the size. But again everything was cooked well and delicious. We will definitely go back.

Living so close to this Jersey City staple is ELECTRIC! The service is fantastic—the staff is so friendly, and the food is always consistently good without breaking the bank. It’s definitely the best deal around! Plus, the menu is super fun.
