Dario Mercato is a Roman Style Pizzeria located in Downtown Plainfield on Lockport Street. We use a natural, organic flour imported from Italy. We use domestic organic tomatoes. We use a beautiful imported mozzarella. We make Roman style pizza. It is thinner, crispier and is shaped almost like a rectangle. Typical of Roman bakeries and the pizzas served al taglio. We have a few pastas on our menu. We make Italian fried street-foods like Arancini, Suppli, Polpette & fried Zucchini. We have a few salads. We offer Italian beer, a handful of spritzes, a few cocktails & our wine list is full of Natural Wine. We are a small place with few tables, and we take a finite number of reservations.

I don’t write reviews but this restaurant is phenomenal all across the board. The food is absolutely amazing and Plainfield is lucky to have them. The restaurant sits maybe 16 total (and that’s if every spot is full) so keep that in mind. Very cozy, romantic, and Italian vibes.

TOTAL hidden gem! What an incredibly quaint, little Italian restaurant tucked away in downtown Plainfield. The ambience was absolute perfection. Quiet, casual and cozy yet upscale. The food was insanely fresh, flavorful, organic, and absolutely delicious! Great selection of food and drinks. My mom ordered an Italian tea and my sister ordered an Aperol spritz, while I ordered an organic prickly pear + tangerine Italian soda. It was light, crisp and refreshing. We ordered Ricotta and honey with a homemade rosemary focaccia, fried zucchini (light and crispy, breaded to perfection) served with two insanely delicious sauces, polpette (fried meatballs), two different types of pizzas (Margherita and Calabrese) and to top it off pistachio gelato and vanilla bean gelato with olive oil and sea salt flakes for dessert. Each dish was simplistic perfection. Quality ingredients = quality cuisine. I can’t stress enough how absolutely, incredibly, FLAVORFUL everything we ordered was. We loved everything that we ordered. And the service was top notch! The owner was SO attentive, polite and helpful, answered any questions we had with a smile and checked on us throughout our meal. Dario Mercato is an absolute MUST for authentic, FRESH Italian food with amazing service. Easily my new favorite restaurant in downtown Plainfield. I can’t wait to go back!!!

Outstanding Italian pizza, apps, and pasta. I’ve had dinner here several times and it just gets better and better. The zucchini appetizer is crispy and delicious, and the pizzas are unique and such big portions there is always something to take home! Service is exceptional, and it’s so cute and cozy inside.

A unique gem right in downtown Plainfield. We went on a weeknight so it was easy to get a table. Cocktails, pizza, and gelato were excellent. We tried a few things we normally would not order and loved it all. This is a perfect date night spot.

The food is amazing. It’s authentic Italian and you can feel that it’s made with love and care. We ordered the Calabrese pizza which had just the right amount of spice and the crust was perfectly crispy. So yummy! We also got the arancini and suppli which were delicious!
The people were just so kind. It felt warm and inviting. The type of place that feels familiar and comfortable. The owner even gave us a suggestion on a bottle of wine to bring home and we love it! Highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back!

I have walked by this place a couple of times and I even had their pistachio gelato 10/10. Today we dined in first off our server Taylor was super sweet! We had the Trio for the appetizer my favorite was the fried zucchini then we tried the Soppressata pizza 10/10 we can’t wait to go back and try out the other pizzas.

Our family had a wonderful time here on Father’s Day. The food tastes so fresh and is the best pizza we have ever tasted! Our group tried almost all the flavors of pizza with arugula salad. The portion sizes are huge! The Gelato was outstanding too! We were pleased to be “holiday full” the staff were wonderful and they serve coke in the glass bottles for extra nostalgia too! It’s a feel of traveling out of country unique experience here and absolutely a hidden gem. We are very happy and will be back again and again! Thank you all!!
