Two of us ate here on a Wednesday evening in early March and it was great to see other diners eating too. The food was authentic and DELICIOUS. The service was excellent, friendly and really welcoming. The food was some of the best Indian food I have eaten in a long time. Definitely eat here if you can, you will not be disappointed. Well and truly a notch above your typical curry house. Some excellent dishes on the menu – I can particularly recommend the Rogan Josh curry. Warm atmosphere inside, particularly downstairs. The service is warm, attentive and professional. Overall, it is well worth the money.

Visited this Indian eatery. And Indian means, truly Indian. Chefs are Indian, and that what you expect dining at a speciality cuisine restaurant. The Goan fish curry was genuinely goan and not the fusion of unnecessary and excessive oil and spice. Kudos to the chefs of restaurant for serving the dishes hot and tasteful. I wish this trend continues and the people at large are not fooled by pseudo Indian restaurants around.
If anyone around Southampton or visiting the south beaches, strongly recommended to visit and enjoy Indian delicacies prepared by INDIAN chefs. Cheers to the team for the fabulous food and experience.

A few of our party ordered the special team darbar chicken. It turned out to be about 4 -5 small pieces of chicken in a gravy soup. Naan breads were small thin and below even supermarket standards. Rice portions were also small. Food was not worth the relatively high price. Fair play the manager took off the service charge but without telling us or the waiter so the person who paid added it back as he thought there was a mistake. Restaurant has a good reputation and others were happy with their orders so maybe just a bad menu choice but disappointing.

Had been craving Goan fish curry for quite some time, Sea Bass in fragrant Goan spices was simply great. Would like to see them doing Pomfret, King Fish in the near future. Kurkuri Bhindi was one of the tasty starters we tried. Mayank’s staff has kept the restaurant in beautiful condition and ambience is very inviting. Such a treat and definitely coming back again soon with friends.

The lamb biryani tasted incredible and was surprisingly filling. It came in a terracotta bowl with the naan fitted as a lid, and there was a generous amount of meat inside. Service was all good, especially for such a large party, I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Very friendly staff, attentive service. One of the better Indian food experiences. Well-seasoned, fairly generous portions and reasonably priced. Starter dosa was more like an appam in texture but tasty potato masala and condiments. So often dal is a bit of an afterthought but this version was savoury with a dry (?) tadka. Another first was boneless goat in the Hyderabadi Goat & Aubergine which wasn’t really ‘2 chiili hot’ but very enjoyable nonetheless. Naan was OK, along with the okra starter. Recommended ‘semolina & rice powder cooked in sweetened milk with cashews and raisins’ was basically a nice rice pudding missing the last two ingredients. Still giving five stars because their food is way above the average, was good value and the staff are so nice, enthusiastic and very efficient. They are trying very hard to please.

We had the most gorgeous food at Darbar and very attentive service. The tastes were varied and amazing from the light as air onion bhaji starter, the lamb shank to the vegetable biryani to the naan breads – everything was impressive.
