We recently dined at Da O’n Restaurant, which currently features a Korean-Italian fusion concept, and it was such a unique and memorable experience.

The dining space is cozy and intimate, with three private dining rooms. Each table has a bell you can ring for service. The service throughout the meal was very friendly and attentive.

We started with the beef tartare bruschetta. The flavor was incredible, but the beef slices were very large which made it difficult to eat gracefully. For our entrees, we ordered the Napa cabbage galbi-tang soup, Steak Diane pasta, and pork galbi. The soup was just okay; it wasn’t the bold, rich depth you typically expect from authentic Korean soups. However, the Steak Diane pasta was scrumptious. The sauce was unbelievably delicious. We dipped the pork galbi into it because the sauce was plentiful and it made it better. The pork galbi was already tasty on its own, but that sauce took it to another level.

The chef and owner, Kevin, came to our table at the end of the meal to ask for feedback on the beef tartare bruschetta (we were the first to try it), and we happily shared our thoughts along with feedback on the entire meal. He was genuinely open and receptive and even shared the story behind the restaurant concept, which was inspired by his childhood. He also explained that the restaurant’s name means “all good things will come to you,” which was very meaningful. It was delightful to connect with him and see how open he was to improving his dishes.

We returned a week later to try more items: the crispy cheese bites, spicy pork rosé rigatoni, hot stone spicy pork, and spicy brisket soup. The hot stone spicy pork on a bed of purple rice was one of our favorites. It was moist and very flavorful. The spicy brisket soup had a much more robust flavor than the previous soup we tried. The rosé rigatoni was sweeter than expected, but wasn’t bad. The crispy cheese bites weren’t our favorite. They lacked depth of flavor and had a mochi-like texture. We did order the beef tartare bruschetta again since it was one of our favorites last time, and it was even better as Kevin implemented our suggestion of cutting the beef smaller.

As we were leaving, Kevin met us at the door again to get feedback on our second visit, and we really appreciated that he had already implemented some of our suggestions from the first time. Kevin – we would be happy to be your guinea pigs anytime and will be back again.

Absolutely loved my experience at Daon last night!
Every single dish was outstanding. The squid and pork were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the Diane steak pasta was simply amazing — rich, comforting, and full of bold flavor.
You can really taste the quality and attention to detail in every plate. Everything exceeded my expectations and made the evening truly memorable.
I can’t wait to come back. Highly, highly recommended!

Daon Korean Restaurant really shines when it comes to their standout specialty dishes.

The Half Ribs are an absolute must-try. Perfectly cooked until tender and juicy, the meat falls right off the bone. The glaze has a rich, slightly sweet and savory depth with a subtle smokiness that makes every bite incredibly satisfying. It’s flavorful without being overwhelming — just perfectly balanced and memorable.

The Steak Diane Pasta is another highlight that truly sets Daon apart. The steak is cooked beautifully — tender, well-seasoned, and full of flavor — paired with a creamy, savory Diane sauce that coats the pasta perfectly. It’s indulgent yet refined, combining comfort and sophistication in one dish.

For those who love a bit of heat, the Spicy Seafood Arrabbiata is outstanding. The pasta is cooked al dente and tossed in a bold, spicy tomato sauce packed with fresh seafood. The spice level adds a nice kick without overpowering the natural sweetness of the seafood, creating a dish that’s vibrant, rich, and incredibly satisfying.

Daon’s ability to blend Korean influence with Italian-inspired dishes makes their menu unique and exciting. Every plate feels thoughtfully crafted, offering something you won’t find just anywhere.

This restaurant and its owner are a breath of fresh air in the Houston food scene. I’d only ever been to Korean barbecue spots before, but this was my first time truly enjoying authentic Korean food—along with vibrant, flavorful, and inventive Italian-Korean fusion. DAO’N is a gem. The food is incredibly delicious, and the service is friendly and attentive. The dishes I’ve had are ones I can’t stop thinking about. You have to try the carbonara—it’s to die for. I also love the seafood pancake. You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

I highly recommend this spot if you’re tired of all the random KBBQ restaurants popping up, and wanting a delicious refresh on some Korean classics. Aside from the food being awesome, the staff are, by far, the highlight of this restaurant! The people made my experience 10 times better than it already was. They are extremely friendly and warm, passionate, and attentive to all their guests! Also, I’d recommend getting a reservation. It just made the whole process smoother. Definitely will go back and try more of their food!

DAO’N Korean restaurant blends cultures from Philadelphia and Korea.

These cultures complimented each other well with the dish that I got.

The steak pasta with Diane sauce was amazing. The noodles were cooked to perfection along with the butcher’s steak. The rich flavor profile of the sauce presented nicely with the noodles and beef.

For an appetizer, I got the fried cheese. It was paired with some Parmesan sprinkled on top and some Korean chili sauce below which rounded the flavors out nicely.

The service was good and atmosphere was relaxing.

Ate at DAO’N the other day and enjoyed the meal overall.

We had the seafood pancakes, chicken dak katsu ball, steak Diane pasta, and the spare ribs Galbi

The chicken dak katsu ball needs a bit more flavor imo, and I wish the size was a bit more bite sized.

The pancake and spare rib were really good.

My main complaint is the steak pasta. The steak was really well cooked and the pasta sauce was delicious. But the amount of pasta they give is very very little. We shared these 4 dishes with 4 ppl and when it came to the pasta dish we each had maybe one bite of pasta itself.

They should just increase the amount of pasta in the dish and it would be perfect, pasta is cheap after all.

I also think their cocktails are very good I had the Seoul drink and the pear one both really good

I expected the food to be excellent, but it turned out to be just average. They should focus on authentic Korean dishes instead of Western food. The pancake and salmon rice were good, but the two pasta dishes were a waste of money. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it was first served well done no pink. After it was remade, it came out medium well. They clearly don’t know how to cook steak properly. However, I loved the kimchi.

Interesting concept – fusion Korean dishes but in my opinion weren’t that imaginative. They had some traditional Korean aspects but they could work on their menu. I’d like to see more Korean aspects of the food selection honestly. The food and service were good. The atmosphere was pretty typical for Korean restaurants – not much to imagination there – pretty simple aesthetic.

Overall if your looking to try authentic Korean this isn’t your spot.

Great place! I’m glad that we’ve stumbled upon it. I was hesitant to come in because I saw the prices online. But definitely worth it.

I like that their menu is small, that means they’ve perfected the recipe and just focus on those items.
So if you want a lot of different food, it’s not the place.

We’ve ordered:

Katsu Balls : 10/10 Fried just right and the batter is flavorful

Spicy Brisket soup : 9/10 I normally don’t like red soups because tbh it all taste the same, just pepper; but this one was really good! The broth was flavorful and hearty. They put lots of veggies and the meat was good, although some of it were a bit dry.

Bulgogi plate : 9/10 , we had some good cuts. I like that some of it were fatty. I usually have dry bulgogi but this one had sauce.

Midnight cocktail : I’m glad they had a lot of different mocktail options cause I am tired of just cocktails. This drink was good but a little too syrupy for me. Great flavor though

Service : Jay was so nice and friendly. He was quick as well. Food came out really fast, like 10 mins max after we’ve ordered it.
