I came here at around 5 PM on a Friday night because I’m an early diner. This worked out perfectly for me. I got my food about five minutes after ordering.
I ordered the Massaman curry (as pictured, although I took the photo after the meal was half eaten!) with tofu and brown rice. The curry had hefty portions of tofu, pineapple, and potatoes, while having a flavorful zest. I’m vegan, so I appreciate that the restaurant, as the server mentioned to me, does not use fish sauce.
Great food at a reasonable cost, in a pleasant atmosphere. I will come back again!

I had a great experience dining here! The staff was very friendly, the ambiance inside is very warm and the food was delicious. I appreciated that the halal certification was clearly indicated on the door.

Discovered Dao Thai while visiting Chicago for the weekend. We got takeout, so can’t speak for the ambience of the restaurant, but the food is amazing! Definitely recommend checking it out. The only thing we got that was a miss were the free eggrolls, and just because the fried dough was a little soggy.

Been coming here for years (primarily takeout). Food is always delicious and fresh. Even if/when my order has had an error (because we’re all human) they have made it right. Either by crediting my account or, for today’s order, the owner literally drove the correction all the way to me (paid extra for brown rice but got white rice when I picked up my order and I don’t check). Regardless , great customer service on top of their food. Keeps me coming back.

I came here for lunch on a Friday in August. This place is reasonably priced and not far from Michigan Ave. so it has become a go-to place for me when I am in Streeterville. I usually get the rice stick noodle soup with tofu and broccoli. I omit the bean sprouts. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. I also appreciate the old school decor, it makes it feel like an experience. I can also recommend Dao Thai for solo diners and those who need to eat gluten-free. I will definitely be back.

Beautiful restaurant, very friendly service, and good portions delivered, but the food is just average. It tastes like Chinese cuisine with a Thai label slapped on it, and I love Chinese cuisine.

The portions were small, the waiter was rushed and had no service conscious, and the waiter even added a 20% tip to himself, even though the receipt said 20% for 5+ people. We only ordered two dishes and ended up spending $44.66! I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant, they are scammers.

If I could give a higher review, I would. Everything about this place was amazing, but I have to give a special shout to the amazing staff. We came in with our crying 20 month old daughter. She hates the cold and was so mad she had to endure it to get to dinner. Anyway, she wouldn’t stop crying and they brought her out a scoop of ice cream, talked to her, and even played on her toy phone with her. By the time our meal came out, they had her laughing and happy again. Thank you for the patience, kindness, and understanding! We will definitely be back during our future Chicago visits. We want more of the delicious crab dragon!
