Wood-fired pies with elevated toppings served in a light-filled space with a horseshoe-shaped bar.

Hard to give a rating because we ate here several times, and it varied.
One day they were short-staffed, and the service was very slow (it happens). Staff were friendly, and did their best, but it wasn’t a great experience.
Following day, breakfast tables hadn’t been wiped (probably because the night staff were exhausted and the day staff didn’t check—again, it happens, but it wasn’t evidence of very thorough systems).
However, other times were pretty perfect, when everything was clean, service was efficient and food was great. As I said, we ate here several times, and there are lots of restaurants on the island.
They did serve espresso martinis in a tumbler, which was a big shame (I like a fancy glass!)
Seats were comfy.
Good location.
I liked the breakfast menu. Good choice of food.
Staff were always friendly.

We had a very enjoyable evening at Dante’s. The Wedge salad was excellent, as were the Chicken Parm, and Chicken Marsala. Pizza was a very popular choice among other diners. Will definitely be back! I might go 5 stars but tired from a long day traveling.

Food, drinks, service, and atmosphere was excellent! The meatball appetizer, margherita pizza, and pastas were delicious. The manager Andrew was amazing. The property also has a beautiful tiki bar where you can enjoy some drinks on the beach. A must visit place if you’re in Sanibel or Fort Myers!

We shared pizza, salad and rigatoni pasta. All were very yummy. The menu had a great variety of Italian food. We had Mr. Pete as our server. He very personable and quick to any request. We highly recommend coming here. Music was great and everyone was polite. The secret is the beach is a couple steps! The GM Andrew also came to check on how the dinner went. They truly care. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed Dante’s Italian Kitchen—from the decor and ambiance to the food and service, this place added good memories to our vacation at the Sanibel Inn. I appreciated the “lift” available to those of us who need to avoid stairs. Specialty cocktails are also available non-alcoholic. The general manager, Andrew, made us feel welcome and clearly sets high standards for the friendly and professional staff. Oh—and don’t miss the key lime cake for dessert!

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. My wife and I had an excellent time at Dante’s. I had the rigatoni bolognese and my wife had the eggplant parmigiana. Portion sizes were excellent. My wife took home what she couldn’t finish at the restaurant.
The key lime pie for dessert was very good too. We had heard pizza at Dante’s is excellent but we wanted to try other items on the menu. We were not disappointed. We had our eyes on other menu choices so we will be back.
Our server, Hannah T, was wonderful. Enthusiastic, professional, and knowledgeable. She was an important part of why we had a wonderful time at Dante’s last night.
The atmosphere was fine. We could converse without having to raise our voices. Classy place.

Food was great and the restaurant is very nice. Unfortunately the waitress who took care of us last night was not what is expected. We were a table of 12 and as soon as we arrived we could feel she was annoyed with us. This was confirmed as the dinner went on. Our orders were not understood. And there was more than 45 minutes between the first order was brought to the table and the last one. Couldn’t understand how this was possible. I’m sorry this happened because the pizzas were delicious.

Thin crust, wood-fired pizza is tasty. Some nice, less typical options for toppings (e.g., pulled chicken, roasted bell peppers) for “build your own” pizza. Red and white pizzas offered. Decent beer selection includes nice local choices as well as the usual draft beers.
Our server seemed to be new as she didn’t seem to know where things were. She got our food order in quickly but neglected to even offer us a drink menu and then disappeared for more than 15 minutes. We had to flag down other servers to get drink menu and order our beers. Other service staff was friendly and helpful, though they could have been more attentive. Loud pop music played the whole time, which wasn’t our cup of tea.

Update April 2025. THEY ARE BACK AND AWESOME! Heard they opened around 2 weeks ago. Wonderful service in the bar for carryout (not taking call ins currently) even during absolute controlled chaos (place was packed). Looks and feels like it did before Ian which is great. We were back 2 days later for dinner and will post images from then soon.
