In pursuit of the best burger in Indianapolis I stopped at Mr. Dans. I been going here since I was a kid. It’s been years since I been here though. The food was hot and fresh but it wasn’t the best in Indy. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger. Slightly more greasy than I would like but still good. I won’t be in a rush to come back but it was worth trying it again after all these years!

My quest for the best burger in Indy is still going and the next spot I tried was Mr. Dans. I randomly found it on a Google search and decided to stop by today.
Walking in, it’s just a small counter you order at (carry out and delivery only, no seating inside or out). They have a small kitchen and only had 3 people working but they were working hard at orders as the lunch rush came in.
I got the Double Dan with fries. I was overall super impressed! This burger was bigger than what other photos showed! And overall, it tasted amazing. The meat was smashed and seasoned great, and the fries were hot and fresh. My partner got a Chili Cheese dog which, although messy, was delish too!
Overall, I’d say Mr. Dans is up there as one of my favorite burger spots in Indy! If you’re in the area, make a stop! It may not look the nicest on the outside but the food is what matters most. I’ll be back!

Damn good burgers! Fixed up fast, just the way you ordered. Would be nice if they had a place to sit and eat. Only a buck or so more than fast food, but way better.

Mr. Dan’s Original 1954 Hamburger lives up to the name. The burger I had was amazing…simple, classic, and done right. Big props to James and Kennedy, the owners. You can tell they care about the food and keeping it real. Highly recommend.

Terrible place don’t ever go here at 10pm expecting to eat they will lock the door and yell at you “closed!” I got here at 10:10pm and their open sign was still on and the time online says they do not close until 11pm I was so hungry for a burger but this place let me down. Never coming back again no matter the time of day or night! They just lost a customer for life.

The gentleman who took the order was extremely rude. I ordered a Big Dan with cheese no pickle and asked for a combo. The combo price was the regular price for the fry and drink with a 60-cent discount. I asked for regular fries and received home fries, which were $1 more. When I asked dor condiments-mayo and ketchup. He stated, “mayo is already on the burger, we don’t have packets,” and ketchup is in the bag. ” He then said “well check your bag to make sure I put it in there”. My burger patty was split, and the lettuce wilted from the heat of the burger. Home fries were well seasoned. Will not be returning anytime soon.

One of Indy’s true diamonds in the rough. The original location on Massachusetts Ave was originally called “Gay Dan’s” in the 70s. This place is a must have if you love a tried-and-true burger and fry combo without all the crazy and experimental ingredients. Grab a Big Dan with cheese with some Home Fries and rejoice. Breakfast is awesome here too with The Big Hoss sandwich being the headliner.
