I have to say the atmosphere is very cool, although we had a booth where the benches were raised up, which made it kind of difficult to get into it. And I’m not sure what was happening while we were there, but the service was very slow. One member of our party found her soup to be less than warm, but she sent it back and they warmed it up immediately. I had a problem with my soup too, but I think it had more to do with an allergy then with the soup itself. I just didn’t know what was in it. The dessert, the apple crumble, was delicious.

We’ve been to O’Connell’s plenty of times before, and we recently held our wedding reception here. It was the best experience we could have ever asked for!

The reserved area was prepared beautifully. The food was absolutely delicious and we had guests saying to us all night and the days following about how much they loved it. The service was fantastic. Staff was very attentive and handled our reception with great professionalism and compassion. Shoutout to everyone who worked that night. You all made the evening that much more enjoyable!

We already loved this restaurant, and this made us love it all the more. Cheers!

O’Connell’s Pub is a gem! Elmer and Tyler, who served us, were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The entire staff created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that really added to the experience. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The drinks were just as impressive, especially the Irish Crush made with Captain Morgan. It was perfectly balanced, refreshing, and full of flavor. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or enjoying a full meal and drinks, O’Connell’s delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend!

One of the best, if not THE BEST places to enjoy a cold Guinness and a great meal in Old town.
Decorated beautifully inside with old world charm and an amazing atmosphere. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time – away from all of today’s stress. Check out the upstairs patio area – enjoy the night air, a cold beer and the nightlife on the street below.

Great little Irish pub in the historical area of Virginia.
I’m Irish and English so we opted for the scotch eggs and shepherds pie. The scotch eggs were dry and had more breading than sausage. The shepherds pie was incredible. Fun little pub. Staff was friendly.

I gave the server ERIK the old “what do you recommend” and let me tell you…my life has forever changed. I ordered the (whiskey sizzler) it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend to eat. Price was reasonable. Atmosphere was spot on and the service was fast. I WILL BE BACK!

We’ve been to O’Connell’s once before but Elmer made this visit the best.

He was very attentive and pleasant to hold a conversation with while serving a full bar. The food was hot and delicious.

We already loved this restaurant, and will be back

What can I say? I love a good Ole Irish pub. The whiskey/bourbon selections were decent. The atmosphere was lively and the bartenders attentive. Enjoyed the Irish musicians playing.

I love the atmosphere. The place is a maze and easy to get lost in. There are two floors with multiple dining rooms and bars. There’s a balcony that looks over the main bar area. There’s lots of cozy wood and Irish decor. There are fireplaces in every room. The menu is a mix of Irish fare and pub food. I had the shepherd’s pie and my husband had the chicken pot pie. We both enjoyed our meals. My kids got chicken fingers and fries as usual. The kids menu has some nice Irish educational activities. The service was prompt and the food came out early. The only downside is the strong bar vibe. Our family was seated by two heavily drinking and swearing tables. The people on our right eye dropping f-bombs every other word for an hour. This was 8pm, so a little late for dinner, but not exactly bar time. So that was disappointing. If I could take a star away for a lack of family friendliness I would. The staff did nothing to quiet them down.
