I’ve traveled extensively during my military career, which has given me the chance to try some truly great barbecue spots nationwide. Even with all that experience, Dampf BBQ is still my number one. The meat is always incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked with the kind of care you can taste in every bite.
Beyond the food, the people here make the experience even better. This is a dedicated, family-owned, local business that clearly takes pride in what they do. I’ve seen comments about wait times and pricing, but in my opinion, anything truly good is worth waiting for, and anything made with real quality is worth paying for.
You’ve also got to be first in line or call in your order ~ just like anything else that’s a hot commodity. The demand is high, and that alone should be a testament to the quality they’re putting out.
I drive an hour just to get this barbecue, and I’ve never once been disappointed. It’s consistently excellent, every single time.
If you’re on the fence… don’t be! It’s 100% worth the trip. Give it a shot.
*FRIENDLY ADVICE* Get there early to secure the desired package while supplies last.
I didn’t go to pick up our meal, but my Fiance stopped by their parked trailer setup and had high regards for it. She mentioned the couple of fire pits and tables to warm up by and eat.
She couldn’t get there until after work on a Friday, so unfortunately, no ribs left for us. We opted for a full pound of chopped brisket and Mac n Cheese shells & coleslaw (comes with some toast and pickled onions & cukes). Even probably being towards the bottom of the barrel and take out reheated – the chopped brisket was tender and flavorful! Excellent slow and low smoke lines from what I could see and paired great with their BBQ sauce. Supposedly smoked for 15 hours over Oak wood. The smoked Mac n Cheese was PHENOMENAL. Finally folks who take pride in the flavor of their Mac and not just the amount/variation of cheese. Creamy coleslaw so not necessarily your NC vinegar heavy slaw, but that’s preferable so it doesn’t damper the brisket when throwing a little sandwich together. All around tasty with no corners cut!
They also sell sandwiches like a BBQ (pork, beef, turkey) sando, Chicago Italian Beef, and a street polish. Next time I’d like to sample their beef rib, pork ribs (my redemption), turkey breast, and sausage. If you’re trying to feed the tribe, they offer large family style packages with different focal points – depending on what you’re craving or how many is in the party.
Looking forward to circling back for the meats I missed!
The cost was on point for the usual things and I would pay whatever they want for those beef ribs and do because they are the only place at least around the have them everyday they are open.
They have a cold mashed potatoe salad which I thought might be weird but its amazing!
And, the experience was absolutely out of this world. Cant find this level of BBQ anywhere around here that we’re aware of. Thanks again for all the long hard hours in creating one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve EVER had!
SO, food connoisseurs who cherish fine BBQ, expertly crafted, should certainly justify the travel no matter what the distance!
And here it is: #BBQLovers
1 Beef Rib 1.6 lb.
Pork Spare Ribs 1 lb.
1/2 lb. Cowboy Candy Burnt Ends
Whole pound of Brisket Burnt Ends
Sides of butcher block beans, and jalapeño cream corn.
my friends and I split the Carolina Trinity which had bacon brisket, pulled pork, and spare ribs with three sides (we chose the roasted veggies, mac & cheese, and beans) and when I tell you everything I put in my mouth melted, I mean it. my personal favorite was the bacon brisket. also, the tray came with bread, pickles, and onions and those also were all so tasty.
we got there at 10:55 and they open at 11 and there was already a modest line of hungry people. the service was quick and friendly. they were patient and personable and made the tastiest food. the entire time we were in line, we were just moaning on how good it smelled as country music played while someone was shoveling wood in the smokers – the vibes were THERE.
I cannot wait to go again. everyone ahead of me was getting the burger and I’ve decided that’s gotta be what I try next!
Must try if you’re in the area.
