I first tried Dampf BBQ many years ago when they were still out at the fairgrounds, and I can honestly say it has remained the best and most consistent barbecue I’ve had… both in this state and across the country.

I’ve traveled extensively during my military career, which has given me the chance to try some truly great barbecue spots nationwide. Even with all that experience, Dampf BBQ is still my number one. The meat is always incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked with the kind of care you can taste in every bite.

Beyond the food, the people here make the experience even better. This is a dedicated, family-owned, local business that clearly takes pride in what they do. I’ve seen comments about wait times and pricing, but in my opinion, anything truly good is worth waiting for, and anything made with real quality is worth paying for.

You’ve also got to be first in line or call in your order ~ just like anything else that’s a hot commodity. The demand is high, and that alone should be a testament to the quality they’re putting out.

I drive an hour just to get this barbecue, and I’ve never once been disappointed. It’s consistently excellent, every single time.

If you’re on the fence… don’t be! It’s 100% worth the trip. Give it a shot.

One of best briskets in the Research Triangle! Happy this Texas-style BBQ operation is recognized in the Michelin Guide.

*FRIENDLY ADVICE* Get there early to secure the desired package while supplies last.

I didn’t go to pick up our meal, but my Fiance stopped by their parked trailer setup and had high regards for it. She mentioned the couple of fire pits and tables to warm up by and eat.

She couldn’t get there until after work on a Friday, so unfortunately, no ribs left for us. We opted for a full pound of chopped brisket and Mac n Cheese shells & coleslaw (comes with some toast and pickled onions & cukes). Even probably being towards the bottom of the barrel and take out reheated – the chopped brisket was tender and flavorful! Excellent slow and low smoke lines from what I could see and paired great with their BBQ sauce. Supposedly smoked for 15 hours over Oak wood. The smoked Mac n Cheese was PHENOMENAL. Finally folks who take pride in the flavor of their Mac and not just the amount/variation of cheese. Creamy coleslaw so not necessarily your NC vinegar heavy slaw, but that’s preferable so it doesn’t damper the brisket when throwing a little sandwich together. All around tasty with no corners cut!

They also sell sandwiches like a BBQ (pork, beef, turkey) sando, Chicago Italian Beef, and a street polish. Next time I’d like to sample their beef rib, pork ribs (my redemption), turkey breast, and sausage. If you’re trying to feed the tribe, they offer large family style packages with different focal points – depending on what you’re craving or how many is in the party.

Looking forward to circling back for the meats I missed!

I have dreams about these beef ribs, so tender and flavorful. Shell noodle in mac n cheese is unique for this area. The service is a little slow if you go just plan to wait for it for a while or do online pre-ordering, its worth it, its that much better. They have really built up around the truck with covered tables and bathrooms. Even had a little beer cart out there.
The cost was on point for the usual things and I would pay whatever they want for those beef ribs and do because they are the only place at least around the have them everyday they are open.

They have a cold mashed potatoe salad which I thought might be weird but its amazing!

Fueled by our intense craving for authentic BBQ, we discovered their Facebook page this morning, showcasing delectable images and a prestigious 2025 Michelin recognition, which ignited our culinary enthusiasm and prompted us to make the trip.

And, the experience was absolutely out of this world. Cant find this level of BBQ anywhere around here that we’re aware of. Thanks again for all the long hard hours in creating one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve EVER had!

SO, food connoisseurs who cherish fine BBQ, expertly crafted, should certainly justify the travel no matter what the distance!

And here it is: #BBQLovers

if you are wanting damn good bbq that is on the new southern Michelin guide, look no further than Dampf Good BBQ. there is a lot of good BBQ around here, but this place really took my breath away.

my friends and I split the Carolina Trinity which had bacon brisket, pulled pork, and spare ribs with three sides (we chose the roasted veggies, mac & cheese, and beans) and when I tell you everything I put in my mouth melted, I mean it. my personal favorite was the bacon brisket. also, the tray came with bread, pickles, and onions and those also were all so tasty.

we got there at 10:55 and they open at 11 and there was already a modest line of hungry people. the service was quick and friendly. they were patient and personable and made the tastiest food. the entire time we were in line, we were just moaning on how good it smelled as country music played while someone was shoveling wood in the smokers – the vibes were THERE.

I cannot wait to go again. everyone ahead of me was getting the burger and I’ve decided that’s gotta be what I try next!

We have been looking for a great BBQ place to fill the hole of missing Lewis BBQ in Charleston… and this place has done it! The brisket tastes the exact same. If you’re from the Charleston area and know anything about how many thousands of pounds of brisket Lewis BBQ sells a week… you know how amazing it is. Dampf is also THAT GOOD. You don’t even need sauce for it. The price is on par for the quality of the meat you’re getting. This is high high quality beef. The atmosphere of the farm is great family vibes. I wish they had a brick and mortar. It’s worth it! We know many people who also travel from the Sandhills/pines area to get dampf. I see why now! The pickles and red onions are also done perfectly. The kids devoured the Mac and cheese. I’ve also never had fire roasted veggies this good. The owner and team seem to be great people and faith centered. We really appreciated the service we received from them as you never get such great personal service from food trucks. This place deserves to GO BIG! Bring them down to the pines so we don’t all have to travel up there. You would be a weekly staple for all the families down here dying for good BBQ. Don’t skip out on this place. They know what they’re doing!

Got a half pound of turkey, half pound of pulled pork, Mac and cheese, fire roasted veggies, and the beans. Everything was top notch. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Mac and cheese was decadent and perfectly cooked. The beans were sweet and thick. The veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Something to note, the bbq sauce is sweet, thick, and tangy – maybe like a blend of traditional vinegar bbq sauce and a sweet and thick sauce (no complaints here!)

Must try if you’re in the area.

Finally tried Dampf after hearing so much about it. I got there closer to closing and a few items were sold out but I grabbed the last bit of brisket with potato salad. The brisket was tender and juicy, and the potato salad was delicious. If you want something specific but can’t get there early, order online and they’ll reserve it for you. The staff were incredibly kind and made the experience even better. There’s plenty of outdoor seating at Phillips Farm, I stayed until sundown and the atmosphere was great. I missed out on the mac and cheese this time, but I’ll definitely be back for that and the sliced brisket.
