Please know up front that we are not a fast food joint!!! We are a made-to-order burger and ice cream shop! Nothing is ever made ahead of time but always fresh and made how you like it! We are known for our burgers, ice cream and chill environment. The Dairy Shack has been here since 1968 and is a destination for tourists and locals alike. Everything is made “to-go” but if there is room (which there usually is) you can eat on the patio at a picnic table. Our menu is pretty big so we have lots of things to choose from and we try and have something for everyone. During our slow season we try and have a dairy-free ice cream option and we also offer a gluten-free bun option. We are a seasonal; open mid-March through the month of October.

We were biking past on our Transamerica bike ride when we saw this place filled with people. We went to check it out and ended up getting ice cream and curly fries. The portions were incredible for the cost and it tasted SO good! It was the perfect mid-day pick-me-up. The best part was that as we were leaving, an employee (probably a manager) stopped us and offered to fill up all 8 of our water bottles with ice cold water. I cannot get over the quality of service and genuine kindness of this place!

What a gem! We were visiting the area for a float trip, and when we asked for a restaurant recommendation, it was suggested we try Dairy Shack. We stopped by for an early dinner, and got a mushroom and swiss burger, corn nuggets, and jalapeno poppers. All of it was delicious, the prices were great, and the portions were generous! It was so good we returned a few hours later for ice cream and were once again very impressed. They even had crunch coat topping!

Great spot for a classic burger and fries. I loved that they had crunchy coating for my ice cream—that’s hard to find any more! The gentleman who served us was kind and we enjoyed sitting outside to eat while listening to vintage tunes. We’ll be back next time we visit!

We have been coming to Dairy Shack for years and it never lets us down! They have great burgers, fries, popcorn shrimp and popcorn chicken, fried okra, fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and fried pickles amongst other food! And the ice cream!! Anything from cones, dipped cones, sundaes, malts and shakes, banana splits, etc. we have never had a bad meal or ice cream. I HIGHLY recommend Dairy Shack if you are in vicinity of Eminence!!

Ingredients are phenomenally fresh, the service was as good as can be expected for a very small town restaurant. Customers had to order one at a time, but the staff moved with urgency to make meals as fast as possible. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and one of the best shakes I’ve ever had. Despite being located in a small, remote town, the quality and excellent flavor of the Dairy Shack’s food would make it enormously successful in any big city, if they chose to expand.

I’ve been here many times on many different occasions. They do not skimp on toppings with their avalanches. They mix it well and you taste them throughout the whole cup of ice cream. It is delicious and service is great and plenty of seating with a clean bathroom also. It’s a popular place in this town for a reason. Highly recommend!

This place sets the bar for efficiency. We showed up on a busy weekend afternoon and had our food in what seemed like a few minutes, very fast. The burger was great and the ice cream was the next best thing to home made. Definitely recommend!!
