I have been visiting this location for 20 years and always enjoy it! Today my daughter ordered her 5th bday cake and Sara was extremely patient with my 5 year old and even showed us how she made the cake! Above and beyond customer service! Leaving one star because I can’t leave 0. Came to Atlantic on vacation and and after having an amazing dinner next door at On The Rocks tonight, me and my family walked over to DQ wanting an ice cream for dessert. It wasn’t busy, which was great because there’s 5 of us. There was a couple ahead of us and the employee Sara, was giving recomendaciones and chit chatting with them which was not the issue at all. Once she instructed the couple their order would be on their left side, they walked over and I walked up to begin our orders. Sara had the nastiest look on her face as I, a brown Hispanic woman, have just interrupted her lovely conversation with a white couple that clearly deserved her customer service more than me and my family did. I started my order and asked what toppings I could put on a cone. She rolls her eyes and tells me “Oh we don’t do toppings” I said okay I can’t put anything on it like sprinkles? She said with the nastiest look “we have sprinkles or dipped.” I told her okay sprinkles is like a topping Can you just put that on top then? She said yes and told me “not to get mad at her” I was just in shock because why are we arguing whether sprinkles are a topping or not? As a customer I wouldn’t think that this would be such an issue as to the verbiage I use when I order? But then I remembered Sara is white and I am not 🙂

The milkshake our friend got ended up being nasty flavor wise, said it tasted like water. We ordered a mint oreo ice cream. The mint flavor was there but almost non-existent.

Brittney was so sweet to take a few minutes to explain the big blow up ice cream cone out in front of the store to our granddaughter and to explain how we could use the Dairy Queen app to order online in the future and skip the line.

2021 update: big improvement. On a Tuesday night after Labor Day they had appropriate amount of staff working. They were pleasant and got us in and out of there in 5 minutes. We got hot pretzels, two sundaes, and two milkshakes. I asked for extra peanut butter sauce on my sundae which was great, pretzels were just okay.

I’ve been here twice and the Blizzards were like a runny milkshake both times. I asked the server what would happen if I tipped it upside down like they are supposed to and he laughed. Thumbs down!

We ordered a white cake with pink icing and the note “Happy Birthday Victoria” here for my daughter’s 4th of July birthday. When we picked up the cake the icing was pink and the cake was white but clearly they made a mistake and did a poor job fixing it. It appeared to us that something was written incorrectly and they tried to scrap off the icing; however, it left the pink smear and grooves in the top of the white icing. The photo was taken right after we picked it up on the way to dinner and it was too late to get it fixed. We typically use the particular location every year for her cake because we are always in Atlantic Beach for the 4th celebrating her birthday with family. This is the first time it has happened but given a special occasion we expected more care with our order.
