I ran a DQ for 26 years. I haven’t had it much since I left four years ago. I picked up some this afternoon for my son and I. The ice cream was fantastic and the food was perfect. I know how hard it is to have and keep good help. Every time I stop by this location they do great. Keep up the good work South Bloomfield staff

Convenient location. Very slow service. Need more employees at peak times. Hard for small kids to wait. Also DoorDashers wait forever and typically add 10-15 minutes to delivery time. Staff lack training and resources to get the job done quickly.

To preface, I did not receive a receipt so I can’t go take this feedback to DQ directly so this is the avenue I have to take: Ordered a Brownie & Oreo cupfection, literally all the white in there is marshmallow, not a single bit of ice cream. The cone, that was supposed to be a medium (I know it’s missing the slightest because he took a lick before I took the photo) – I’m the first to make an excuse for bad service or a subpar menu item, but to not even try to attempt completing a menu item and under serving the other- for $9 that wild- and the drive is 15 minutes each way. We were both just so frustrated that we drove to the one on stringtown to order it again because if this is acceptable for the people there that just served this, there is no addressing it with them understanding the issue at hand.

Please be careful when ordering a Choc. Chip shake from this location. Hubby didn’t carefully check before coming home. Technically this vanilla shake has choc. chips at the bottom of the cup, but this isn’t a Choc. Chip shake. & also this was not stirred in the mixer at all, so basically it’s a milk drink with choc. chips at the bottom. There’s no ice cream. So we will no longer go to S. Bloomfield DQ. Circleville DQ knows how to blend chocolate hard shell chips with milk & ice cream, that makes a real, “Choc. Chip Shake.”
The next day I went to Circleville DQ, & you can see the difference & exactly what I was talking about.

Apparently they no longer know what a “float” is. I went through the drive through and ordered 2 Buster Bars and a small lemon-lime Mister Misty float. I assume the Buster Bars are correct. She handed me a small lemon-lime mister Misty. I told her I’d asked for a float. She asked if I wanted a “freeze”. I don’t know what that is so I told her I wanted a glass with some ice cream in it them filled with lemon-lime Mister Misty. I have no idea what I got this time but it’s white, and a strange flavor not lemon-lime mister Misty….

Long wait in the drive-thru, but the crew are nice. It’s kind of a win or miss when it comes to the quality of how the ice cream treats are made. Ordered a large Sunday, it was in a large cup but only had ice cream the amount of a medium and barely any strawberry topping. The food is good though.

We stop at this DQ on more trips between Columbus and Circleville than we probably should. Conveniently located on Rt 23 at the north end of South Bloomfield it is easy to get to regardless of your direction of travel. There is a light just south that provides controlled access if you need to get to the restaurant from the northbound lanes and traffic is too heavy.
The building has been there a while… I remember begging my parents to stop many times as a kid and I’m now in my mid-40s. But it doesn’t look rundown. The owners have kept is looking nice.
Inside it is typical Dairy Queen, red counters, freezers to the side with cakes and treats. The old-school electronic registers with mics to call the orders back and the local high-school kids waiting to help you.
You’re likely to find a line at the drive through though I wouldn’t call them slow. Service times seems to be average for DQ. Inside their service times are about the same. There will always be a mix of locals (the little league teams and families coming in for a snack) as well as the travelers on their way through town as they head to Columbus or Portsmouth. Its that character that you come to expect from the local treat shop.
Probably the more resounding endorsement I can give them is that I don’t ever remember a time our order has been screwed up. They tend to be accurate in that area and that is something, especially as a customer usually passing through, that I appreciate.
