We ordered 2 DQ Dudes, and order of fries and 2 Blizzards. 1 DQ Dude was supposed to have mustard and lettuce, no tomatoes. It came with tomatoes and no lettuce. The other was supposed to have mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. It came with cheese. No lettuce, mayo, or tomatoes. The entire order was cold.

THE SLOWEST FAST FOOD RESTAURANT/RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER!!

I read the reviews before we went and decided that maybe they had turned things around since they had received so many negative reviews and always respond that they “are always listening to their customers.”

The restaurant was full of patrons. They had one cook, one person working the front, and one person working the drive-through. The staff was kind, but they were obviously understaffed. I felt sorry for them.

I ordered two ice creams. I then sat and observed, for 30 minutes by the way. Yes, it took 30 minutes to receive a dipped cone and a simple strawberry sundae. Most of the people, if not all, were obviously irritated with how long they had been waiting. From what I heard, most people waited an hour for their food. Some left without even receiving the food they had paid for they were so frustrated. Some people left before they even ordered. I also noticed cars leaving the drive-through. I felt so sorry for an elderly couple who had been waiting an hour for their food only to find out that the DQ was out of tacos. It sounded like the restaurant was out of tacos when they ordered. Someone should have caught that before they sat there for an hour. The woman asked for a refund. Neither of the nice young people that were working the front knew how to give a refund. (This appears to be common here according to other reviews – no one at the establishment that can give a refund. That definitely works out well for the owners, doesn’t it?) So, one of them had to call someone to help them. These two kids should probably go find better jobs where they are trained better and have an appropriate number of crew members so they can work at their full potential. They were working so hard. None of this was their fault.

Another lady came in during this time and went straight to the back to make sweet tea. Personally, I think being out of sweet tea was way less important than people not receiving their food/ice cream in a timely manner. Just be out of sweet tea for a while…

It appears that the owners of this DQ are more concerned with making money than their restaurant running smoothly. Hire more staff and you’ll have happy customers and make more money. I can’t imagine how much money they lost because of the people walking out or leaving the drive-through. Although, there were the people that paid and left without their food. I guess that works for the owners – taking people’s money and providing nothing for it.

The Childress DQ owners/managers need to do better. Don’t post the same response every time and do nothing to change: “We’re sorry to hear about your experience. We appreciate your feedback and are always listening to our customers. We hope you give us another chance next time you’re craving DQ food and treats.“

Why would anyone give you a second chance when you obviously don’t do anything to change? Perhaps it’s time you actually do what you’re typing in your responses and start making some changes for the better…

RATS!!!!!!!!! RATS!!!!!!!! RATS!!!!!!! I just left there and I was standing at the register and was about to order my food and a BIG A RAT ran across me. Omg!!!! Someone at my job told me they had seen some previously as well. What got me even more was the fact that the staff started laughing like it’s funny. This place is so gross and disgusting. Do not eat here at all. If I could give no stars I definitely would have. Couldn’t eat my food was so disgusted I didn’t even get my money back I just left.

I hadn’t been to a Dairy Queen in over 30 years. This Dairy Queen was clean, the food was delicious and for three people, it was very affordable. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely be going back.
Update March 7, 2026
Service was night and day. Disappointed is an understatement. My bacon cheeseburger was so dry I could barely swallow it and I added ketchup one semi cooked piece of bacon broken in half.I drove 40 miles for unedible food. I won’t be in a hurry to repeat it. I’m taking back my 5 stars!

We had a nice visit overall. Small wait but we could tell they were working with a new cook who was trying hard to make sure he made orders correctly. We wanted to order the new spicy chicken basket but unfortunately they didn’t get their order in so she only had a few pieces left. She threw those in with our regular chicken so we could try them. And they were delicious. The food came out hot and correct. The restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms.

We wasted 15 min in the drive thru lane, before realizing it was extremely slow due to the intercom speaker being broken. So we went inside to order. It still took 45 min to get our food. Wasted a total of 1 hour. They could have at least put a sign out front, mentioning the broken intercom, so that cars don’t waste their time.

7-5-2022. This Dairy Queen needs HELP!! Very dirty (as you can see some of the pictures). Dead Flies everywhere, cleaning products on tables and near the food and cups in the kitchen, none of the workers were wearing hairnets or gloves, workers clothes were awful and no name tags!! The Manager needs to step up and handle this situation!! They were out of half the stuff on the menu but you didn’t know that until you waited in line for 30 minutes to order. I would NOT recommend to eat here.

Stopped by here every time we come to Texas. Same story every time, wait over an hour and end up leaving. Normally they aren’t swamped but this time I sat in the drive thru for an hour and there were 2 cars in front of me. Nobody moved from the time I arrived to the time I left

My wife and I started going to D.Q. for their tacos a while back, since Taco Bell only wants to put a sliver of meat in their’s anymore. We’ve ate them at D.Q. in Plainview, Floydada, and even at this Childress location a time or two. Always were satisfied. On the way to Childress this afternoon, I asked the wife, ” Do we want to see if Taco Bell has gotten any better or just go to D.Q.? She said, D.Q. since they are always better. Went in and noticed right off the bat, a woman around the age of 30 or so sitting in a booth with a dog sitting next to her. There was no service dog vest on it and judging by her appearance, she was a traveler probably from California or westcoast somewhere to say the least. Nonetheless, management should’ve told her that’s illegal. However the help at the counter was very nice. I even told the young lady about Taco Bell and how we’d tossed it around about giving them another chance but said, naw, we’ve always been satisfied at Dairy Queen. We get our tacos and they were short. We were thoroughly disappointed. I removed the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese only to find enough ground beef about the size of a #2 pencil. Took it to the front and showed it to the nice lady and said, “so, this is what we get now?”. She replied basically that it’s scooped out in accordance. I told her that I was sorry that this happened and that we “couldn’t” eat here anymore. The look on her face was genuinely one of concern. We finished our kittie meal and told them fairwell.
