So this is my very first time eating here and I always leave reviews good or bad. So we will get the bad outta the way its Sunday Nov. 9th 1:30pm and the place is packed which usually is a good sign but they were severely under staffed and by the looks of it people already there had been waiting on food for awhile. We meant to to go sit down and did at first in a booth but because of them being under staffed we got up and I ordered everything to go at the register. I thought this might help with being 2 less people they need to waiter to deal with plus I don’t tip when I have to wait a long time on food and service. They said it would be 10-15 minutes but took around 23 minutes so not too bad I guess. We ordered 2 Philly cheesesteak sandwiches with curly fries and tots with chili and cheese and a large chocolate malt. I thought the sandwich was good but it looked rushed because the sautéed onions and green peppers were not fully cooked, my son did not like the sandwich but I thought it tasted good. The Chocolate malt was terrible had no flavor and no malt that I could detect but it did have whipped cream and a cherry on top. The fries were regular cut fries and should have been curly fries ( so they messed up there ) but they did taste great and the chili cheese tots were wonderful but 2.00 for a small amount of added chili I thought was high and the cheese was .75 but in the end it was very good. Now the good part was the Atmosphere was great, the staff were wonderful under the stressful conditions being under staffed and they were very Apologetic and friendly. The prices for the most part was good IMO. I would probably give this place another shot and would like to try it out without it being understaffed and I’m sure all the problems I had was a direct result of it being busy my son is not so sure and he won’t be back but I will give it another try. The employees were very professional and even though many people were Understandably Complaining about the slow service the people working handed the customers best they could under the conditions and with friendly service and good attitude.

A Retro Gem in Van Buren: Dairy Dip Diner
During a road trip through Arkansas, we discovered the Dairy Dip Diner in the small town of Van Buren, and it was a charming find.
Open since 1952, this place is a time capsule that transported us back to the golden age of American diners.
Nostalgic Atmosphere and Classic Food
The decor is a true trip to the past, with a theme centered around Elvis Presley and the music of the 50s and 60s. The atmosphere is authentic and very well-preserved.
Despite being such a traditional place, the service was fast and efficient. We didn’t have to wait to be served, and the food arrived quickly.
We tried a classic Patty Melt and Bacon cheeseburger and a milkshakes, and both were delicious, with great flavor and at the perfect temperature.
The staff was friendly, and overall, the experience was very positive. Although the diner is a bit hidden, it’s one of those treasures that are worth finding on the road.
If you’re passing through the area, we highly recommend visiting it to enjoy a traditional lunch in a nostalgic setting.

We ordered milkshakes & fries. Milkshakes were brought out quickly & tasted great, but by the time we finally got the fries we had ordered to eat with our milkshakes, our milkshakes were gone & the fries were soggy! Service was good, the cook just wasn’t very fast. I loved the retro 1950’s vibe!

This place used to be awesome. What the hell happened. I got the Elvis burger and onion rings. And that was $15. Coworker got a cheeseburger and fries. $10. Burgers were tiny. Fries were small and cold. And the 3 soggy falling apart onion rings were terrible. We used to like eating here. Never again.

Our server was fantastic (I can’t remember her name) but the cooks at this restaurant need some training in how to cook. I ordered the chicken tenders with onion rings and okra. When the food came, my onion rings were very undercooked and I got french fries instead of okra. My lunch guest also got onion rings that were cooked perfectly fine. The server kindly took the plate back to the kitchen to ask the cook to cook the onion rings some more and give me some okra. When she brought them out to me, the onion rings were definitely cooked more, but the okra was so undercooked that I just left it on my plate. They were very short-staffed during lunchtime. We tried to encourage the server to be positive because she did a great job, but she was very frazzled I think. Trish made things right by offering a discount on my meal. I don’t know that I’ll be back, but if I am back, it probably won’t be because of the food. It will be because of the excellent service. Y’all should hire a cook they can handle a rush.

A cute little 50s themed diner!
I got the Marilyn Burger, which came with pickled jalapeno and nacho cheese with tots and an order of Mozzarella sticks. It came out quick and hot, and best of all it was delicious!
I also got a strawberry malt and got to try their peanut butter malt, both were very good!
The servers were very friendly!

Love the 50’s 60’s decor! Diner is always super clean. Food is really good – decent price and good portions. Mainly burgers and sandwiches. They have an ice cream counter. Love the Oldie Goldies playing !!

We ordered taco salads, they were half the size as before, the chilli was good, the burgers were ok, water was undrinkable, the fish sandwich was so processed and tasted bad, the tator tots and fries were very good. The hamburger steak meal was very good and the wings were delicious. This was from a group of 7 people. The service was awesome. The waitress was very attentive. The restaurant was clean too. We love the ’50’s vibe.

Such a cute idea. We hade a great friends lunch here during the summer. Wanted to bring a large group for the fall train ride. Worked with Ashley. She is super friendly. She was honest and said she had a small crew but we worked it out. Placed our orders ahead. It was still difficult on the location to prepare that many orders. Food was slow to come out but Ashley and the staff were doing everything they could to accommodate the group. It was good that we were not in a rush. Don’t miss the shakes and sundaes! Thanks again Ashley. Your a gem!

1/02/2026. I’ve eaten at this establishment twice now.
Both experiences were very very good and I give it a total of 19/20 overall that are available from the 4 selections of star ratings to pick from.
Food: I give a 4/5 .
(nothing was bad, but just like we nit pick our own cooking at home, it wasn’t perfection. I guess the “worst” part *if you call it worst* would be that the fried okra could have been a little more fried/crispy, but it was still very good).
Both times, I ordered the same meals: Chicken Fried Steak with fried okra and mashed potatoes & gravy (good portions of each) as the 2 sides, and it comes with albeit a very small, yet very good and cold side salad along with Texas toast.
Atmosphere: I give a 5/5 .
I love the country/sky blue paint with the black & white checkered floors along with the red & chrome chairs and all the old 50s memorabilia all around the establishment, and the 50s music playing in the background is the “strawberry on the cheesecake” that completes the throwback nostalgic vibe.
Service: I give a 5/5 .
Both the hostess and my waitress greeted me with nice smiles and friendly hellos when I walked in.
My waitress came promptly to my table, without budding into my space before I was even done getting situated and comfortable. (She respectfully offered me a menu and asked if/what I would like to drink within about 10-20 seconds.) I ordered my food and it was all done in about 8-10 minutes (all of which was still hot). She came and checked on me I believe 3 times maybe even 4 in the 20 or so minutes that it took me to eat. (It’s nice to have someone know their job and actually like and do what their job entails.)
ABOVE AND BEYOND:
As I finished eating (literally about 3 minutes later), my bank called and informed me that another business establishment had called them and informed them that I had left my debit card in their debit card machine at their store that I had went to just prior to going to eat lunch.
After hearing that news, I went up to the hostess and my waitress and told/showed them on my phone that I had just gotten off the phone with my bank about the debit card situation, to which I asked them if I could leave to go get my debit card and return to pay for my meal, they both were very nice and said yes. (The hostess even said jokingly, “And if you don’t come back, God won’t like that and He will get you.”)
We all laughed at that, and I left to go get my card.
I returned with my card about 5 minutes later and paid for my food and the tip.
I thank both of those ladies for their kindness and professionalism throughout the whole experience. Definitely will be going back.
❤️
