Things you should know:
It is located in a small office center. This is Chesterfields first “virtual restaurant.” Black owned. You can eat in, but 98% of their business is takeout. 10+ different restaurants in one spot all owned by the same person, just different types of food, variety at it’s best. The sign says A M Kitchen, this is how you find the restaurant. They do not deal with people much so do not expect excellent customer service when dining in, but expect good food and basically the restaurant to yourself. They have minimum hours of operation.
Food Review:
The best damn catfish I ever had. Cheese grits didn’t look special, but I was wrong they were so good! The fried eggs were seasoned you hear me not salt and pepper SEASONED… So good. The biscuits were fluffy and flavorful.
My husband loved the gumbo gravy on the catfish and grits. I didn’t want gravy so I ordered my catfish on a biscuit and cheese grits and eggs on the side.

First time ordering here. I was able to call ahead to ask questions so that was good. A little disappointed that the shrimp and grits gravy has sausage that can not be removed. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese with no bacon add tomato and lettuce with a side of potatoes. To my surprise the order was correct! That was a good start. The food was really good and well seasoned. I would definitely order again.

Today 2/14. I ordered the catfish/ gumbo/w grits meal and when I opened the container. There was an eaten piece of chicken in my catfish/ gumbo platter !!! It was just the bone!!!! And you couldn’t have missed it!!! This has never happened to me and I’m very upset because I’m pregnant, so Im was extremely hungry and it’s Valentine’s Day!! I will not order from here anymore!.

The atmosphere and the waitress were nice, but the food is not worth the price. The grits were old and lumpy. The oven fried chicken was OLD. When we asked for some new chicken the owner had the audacity to come out and tell us that we ordered oven fried chicken, while rubbing his fingers together trying to explain to us that it’s a different texture from fried chicken as if we didn’t know that. The issue wasn’t the texture the issue was that it was old and you could taste that it was old.
Would I go back? Unfortunately, No!

I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The restaurant is small but really nice. They have outdoor seating as well. BUT the first thing I noticed were the dirty dishes in the sink. The floor was sticky. Then, when I ordered my food, my sausage was as hard as a rock! My eggs did not have a taste. My pancakes were burnt……BURNT! They were not busy at all. I paid more than 20 bucks for my breakfast. Just for me to throw it in the trash.

Assuming this place is black owned because of the delicious food and bad business practices. A lot of the black owned places in Richmond have great food, but inconsistent hours, no website (or incorrect/ outdated information on the website) & so so customer service. IF you are lucky enough to be able to order from here, it’s great. However, the first time I ordered from here they forgot half of my order. The second time I tried to order, they cancelled my door dash order literally 40 minutes after I placed the order and when I tried to call, no answer. Not surprised. But still is frustrating.

This was no the best breakfast. It was horrible. I will not order here again. I mean how do you mess up grits? The seasoning in them was disgusting and they had no cheese like they were supposed to. The eggs were not good. The best thing was the bacon. I usually don’t put reviews about restaurants but I had to for this one because it was terrible.

I am disgusted with my experience here…today, on Mother’s Day when I just wanted to order brunch for myself and my family. I ordered food online and I got there 10 minutes after order was supposed to be ready but I was told it wasn’t ready yet. I patiently waited then asked again but it turned out the guy misheard my name and my food was actually ready. I then realized I didn’t have my drink, and the guy in the back (I believe is the owner) starts yelling about how there’s no drink on the ticket. So I showed my receipt to the guy in the front that clearly showed the drink, but the guy in the back is continuing to YELL “I DON’T SEE A DRINK HERE, AND I’M NOT MAKING ONE UNTIL I SEE IT!” He was loud, rude and aggressive when all he had to do was look at my receipt. A lady even came from the back to tell him “Don’t upset a mother on Mothers Day!” He then made a big deal about IDing me which I understand, but I can almost guarantee he wouldn’t have done that had I not called him out on his boorish behavior toward me. I’ve ordered from this place countless times because I believe in supporting small business, but I don’t support poor comprehension/reading skills and lack of customer service. The food is also hit or miss.

This has to be the best damn catfish, and the best damn biscuit I have ever had! Had the audacity to give me the Smucker’s strawberry jam too?!!! Stop playing with me! Got me out here all grateful and what not! The cheese grits were slamming too! Definitely stop in. Pull the door hard and go and get you some of this. You will not be disappointed!

This place isn’t worth the money and they run out of everything. When you search for the business it comes up as a field. The floors in the kitchen are greasy looking and the employees will touch their face or body with no gloves on and keep working on the food. Not professional and no sanitation or servsafe rules in place. Food poisoning galore written all over this place. Avoid it if you don’t want spend the day in the bathroom.
