Ask any desi what makes an ideal meal, and chances are daal and roti will be on that list: simple, soulful, and comforting. Daal Roti Premium in Kingston takes that sentiment and elevates it into a fine dining experience, blending the heart of Indian home cooking with modern presentation and elegance.
The restaurant itself is stunning; equally perfect for a laid-back lunch or a polished dinner, but it’s the food that truly steals the spotlight. We started with Dahi Puri, a burst of sweet, tangy, and salty flavours that hit all the right notes, followed by a sizzling Tandoori Chicken Leg that was tender, juicy, and layered with smoky perfection.
For the mains, the Paneer Tikka Masala and Matka Chicken Masala were beautifully crafted: rich, flavourful, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. Paired with Garlic Naan and Lachha Paratha, each bite was a reminder of everything I love about Indian cuisine.
To cool things down, we tried two refreshing mocktails: the Sweet Piña Colada, smooth and tropical, and the Mango Pine Blossom, bright and zesty. And just when we thought the meal couldn’t get better, dessert arrived: Ghevar with Rabdi; a delicate, crunchy winter delight soaked in saffron-infused sweetness and topped with nuts. A royal finish to a perfect meal!
Beyond the dishes, what really stood out was the hospitality: warm, thoughtful, and full of heart. Daal Roti Premium isn’t just an Indian restaurant; it’s a heartfelt tribute to tradition, flavour, and the timeless comfort of a truly satisfying meal. ✨

There’s very few places in Kingston that are decorated and architecturally pretty to go to for dinner. This is a great place for that. Food wise this in the classic Indian food but also has some very iconic Punjabi foods and foods that are considered good for the whole fighty type people. Okay so palak gosht is The GOAT meat in spinach (goat meat is a bit gamey so just be ready for that) and spinach helps in iron buildup. They also have daal makhni (their literal name) which is traditionally eaten with rice to make a complete protein for the veggie bros

The menu has very limited options, and the food is expensive for the quantity and quality provided.
Customer comfort was also lacking. I visited on a day when the outside temperature was -15°C, and even after sitting inside for an hour, I still couldn’t remove my winter jacket because it was so cold. When I checked the thermostat, it was set to only 14°C — something I have never seen in any other restaurant.
Overall, the experience did not meet expectations.

I recently tried Malai Soya Chaap, Paneer Lababdar, and Naan, and everything was absolutely delicious! The malai soya chaap was soft, creamy, and full of flavor. The paneer lababdar had a rich and perfectly spiced gravy — one of the best I’ve had! The naan was soft and fresh, completing the meal beautifully. The portion sizes were good, and the service was friendly. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic Indian taste!

Great food and flavor. The service was astounding and they carefully explained to us every question we had on the menu. We ordered three types of vegetarian curry with garlic naan and onion and they were delicious, specifically the curry with cashew sauce. Very recommended!

Had an amazing time at Daal Roti in Kingston! I went there with my friends and everything about the experience was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and clearly made with care.
What really made our visit special was the service. Our waitress, Gurkamal, was outstanding. She was warm, friendly, and super attentive throughout our meal. We even had some fun banter with her, which made the whole evening feel more personal and enjoyable.

I was really looking forward to trying Daal Roti Kingston, but the food was not good at all. The flavours were completely off, the dishes tasted bland and overly oily, and nothing felt fresh. Even simple items like aloo tikki were below basic quality. For the price, I expected much better. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience and I wouldn’t recommend it.
