Stopped in after a chef friend told me this spot was a must, and they were right. Run by a husband-and-wife team who make you feel like part of the family, Da’Carmine’s serves up some seriously good pizza with heart.
We tried the Protein Pizza and the White Broccoli Rabe & Sausage. The protein crust was perfectly crisp with a nice chew, definitely not your average dough. The white pie hit all the right notes: bitter greens, sweet sausage, and that drizzle of olive oil that brings it all together.
Friendly service, great food, and local flavor at its best.
And because it’s Connecticut, Foxon Park soda for the win.

Found this little hidden gem on my way home from New Jersey
Food was great we got a large pie which was new York style and French fries. The pie was delicious just enough topping cooked perfectly. The fries were yummy to not all greasy and soggy. They were firm and yummy! Also had three sodas totaled at 49.00 dollars.
The gentleman who took our order was friendly and also served us at our table. The atmosphere was perfect I felt comfortable and not rushed. I definitely recommend this place. I wish I could give this place a 4.5 star review but google doesn’t do halves. The only reasons they get a 4 it was a little pricey but expected n this area and the cleanliness was not so great which I will not get into but I must say the bathroom could use a deep clean. But besides those issue I would definitely recommend this place you will not be disappointed.

I grew up in the Bronx. Moved out here 20 years ago. Never thought I would find a bronx/queens style pizza and calzone until now. Amazing. Forget burned garbage. This a must try. I will be coming back over and over. Thank you pizza gods for answering my prayers

Pictured was mozz pizza and calzone. That’s a small calzone… Its massive and very good. Pizza was good but not comparable to the pizza places in New Haven. Also, had a little hiccup with the place. But I’d say this pizza is a top for the Branford area. I’d give the pizza a 7.6.

Ordered a large meatball pie and large veggie pie, and small pepperoni calzone. I came in to pick up my order in 30 minutes, was told to give them an extra 5. Ended up waiting 45 minutes total, but they weren’t that busy at the time which confused me. Regardless, pizza was okay overall, though the sauce did lack some flavor, and there were barely any meatballs on the pie. For the veggie pie, garlic was a little burnt and the crust was also a a little burnt. Calzone was okay, a little burnt on the edges but same deal with the sauce; tasteless. Maybe in the distant future I’ll try again.

Very good to excellent pizza but not really a sit down type place. No atmosphere at all. Table attendant seemed surprised that we dined in.pizza was good ,well priced and huge for a “medium”,but I probably would just get it to go next time.
Update: got an extra large with sausage and mushrooms to go for 22 dollars and change. This pizza was easily the best I’ve had on the shoreline in my entire life.
The decor and service still need work but their pizza just can’t be beat. Prices very good too.Truly excellent.

Da Carmine’s is seriously slept on. This place is number 2 on my list after Modern. Their sauce is incredibleeeeee and their toppings are great quality. Super friendly service – have never had a bad pie or app here. Love it, a total local fave!
