Everytime I visit DZ Akin’s, I have a great experience! The food has that homemade feel, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the bakery is next level. On this visit I ordered the Western Omellete and a side of French Toast. This was the best French Toast I have had in San Diego. It’s the right amount of sweet, fluffy, and eggy. The potatoes were seasoned well and crispy on the outside. Overall, the meal was great! That’s not even mentioning the great pastries we got from the bakery to go. I highly recommend the Hamantashen and the Rugelach. Tonia was our server and she was great as well. I can’t wait to come back. Eat up!!!

San Diego’s famous delicatessen never disappoints. You’re certain to find something good to order from the very extensive menu. The friendly atmosphere and hustle & bustle is reminiscent of New Yorks iconic deli’s.

Food is excellent! Fresh, homemade, and nourishes from the inside out. Classic deli and bakery, an old favorite when we lived here! Worth going out of our way to stop in every time we visit now. Much love and gratitude for the DZ Akin’s employees

Best Jewish Deli in SD, hands down!!

My daughter and I come here often for our favorite menu item (the Borscht w/potatoes).
While we wait for that yumminess to arrive, we gnosh on the perfect little challah and butter combo.
And let’s not forget the pickles! De-lish

On our most recent trip, John, knocked our socks off with his impeccable service.
Kudos to John for making our Mother/Daughter date night even that much more special at a place we love.

What a menu! Pages of yummy sandwiches and soups and entrees. And the portions are huge! I had the pastrami Rueben which was delicious. My friend had the matzo ball soup!
One of the best parts is going through their deli and bakery section. My favorite dessert is the enormous and rich chocolate eclair. They also have a little gift shop.

This place is great. Many traditional dishes. The bakery is awesome. I’d suggest the Ding Dong. They make a fancy one but I prefer the classic. I’d also suggest the mush mesh even though I didn’t get it this time. I got the TED LEITNER SPECIAL – Corned Beef, Pastrami and American Cheese served on Rye this time. Really good!

I heard about this place all the way up in Vista, and since I was nearby, I decided to check it out. Wow! The éclairs alone are amazing—I will definitely be back for those! The mac salad is incredible too! 12.04.2025/ I’m back!! Look at all this!?!? Welcome to 2026!!

Had dinner with friends for Rosh Hashanah — we aren’t Jewish and enjoyed the meal very much. The side dishes were on the sweet side, the atmosphere is very low key and family-friendly. Huge tables with good seating.

The reuben is great!! It was my first time to DZ Akins and I just knew I had to get a sandwich. It was loaded with corned beef. The bread was perfectly crunchy. The pasta salad was yummy!
