This was my first time eating here at this place but there was the problem I ordered food to go and was initially told by a young man that we couldn’t eat there because the order was an takeout. I then checked with the lady who took our order, and she kindly confirmed that it was not a problem at all. Everything was good , and the service was good. But eventually won’t be coming back .

I ordered to pick up from grubhub. I’m new to the app. Had a friendly, confusing chat with the lady. ” In a good way, she was friendly and polite.” Food to me was good. The spicy Mongolian beef was good, I’m going to return in the future for more. Over all good first experience.

Food was fresh, cheese puffs were hot and crispy, eggrolls were fresh, soup was warm and comforting. Atmosphere was cozy and intimate, all booth seating.

Been eating at this place for about 2 years now, and I love almost everything in the menu. They asked me to try a new shrimp roll with chese, it was very simple but very tasty. Some people don’t like the food, but the rest really like this place. It is worth giving them a chance!

This place is in a sketchy area but the food is on point. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and I like that the chicken was tender with a crispy batter. Can’t complain. They even gave me a free soda, spring roll and fried rice. The portions are big and all for $9,00 including tax.

Never order or eat at this place. I just ordered and ate General Tso Chicken and it had a small cockroach fried on the chicken itself. See pictures!! makes me sick that I only saw this after taking some bites.

D Wok Express – A Hidden Gem on Blalock That’s Been a Lifelong Favorite

As a lifelong resident of Houston, specifically in the Spring Branch area, I’ve had the privilege of watching neighborhoods grow and change — but one place that’s remained consistent in both quality and heart is D Wok Express on Blalock Road. This humble, hole-in-the-wall spot has been a quiet cornerstone of my takeout traditions, late-night cravings, and reliable comfort food for as long as I can remember.

Let’s talk about the food — it’s always fresh, piping hot, and made with care. You’ll never get a bland or under-seasoned bite here. The General Tso’s chicken is a crispy, saucy masterpiece with just the right kick, and the fried rice is always fluffy and never greasy. Egg rolls are crisp, golden, and filled to the brim, not that overly air-filled nonsense you get at some chain places. And if you’re in the mood for something warm and healing, the wonton soup hits the spot every time. Every dish feels like it was made with you specifically in mind.

But what really sets D Wok apart — what truly elevates it — is the hostess, owner, chef, and all-around powerhouse who runs the show. She’s a one-woman band, and honestly, one of the most impressive people I’ve ever seen in action. She takes your order, cooks every dish herself, packages it with precision, and does it all with the kind of grace and hustle that makes you respect the craft even more. Despite working solo, she never sacrifices quality, and somehow still manages to greet you with a smile and warm energy that makes you feel like family.

There’s something so wholesome about walking into D Wok Express. The space is simple but always clean, organized, and efficient. There’s a quiet kind of pride in the way it’s run — the attention to detail, from how each order is bagged to the consistency of flavor, speaks volumes. It’s not flashy, and it doesn’t need to be. It’s the kind of place where the food and kindness speak for themselves.

In a world of rushed service and cut corners, D Wok Express reminds you what genuine hospitality looks like. It’s no wonder I keep coming back — time and time again. Whether I’m stopping in after a long day or picking up dinner for my family, I know I can count on a consistently great meal and a kind word from a hostess who treats her work like a calling.

To anyone who hasn’t tried this place yet — do yourself a favor. Support a local business that truly deserves your time, your appetite, and your respect.
