When it comes to the college campus food landscape, many chain restaurants come to mind. One of these prominent chains meant to cater to university students by providing comfort food. Chains such as Fat Shack and D.P. Dough are among the heavy hitters for major university towns, and are known for their abundance of food options offered.

I came into this specific location in order to take advantage of a coupon for two calzones for $17. Walking into this establishment, I was impressed by the food options that I would be able to experience. Among these, included 20 different varieties of calzone, make your own calzones, tots, nachos, cheesy breadsticks, and cookies. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch and Chicken Parmesan calzones, which were both sensational, when I consumed them, despite knowing about the process of making them.

When it comes to my main issues that I tend to associate with this great place, the main issue I have is with the atmosphere of the place, it feels as-if the interior appears to have seen better days, the seats and tables, especially, were scratched and appeared to be in dire need of replacement. Also, there needs to be more employees to work on the orders, however, I assume that there is more than one employee outside of a weekend afternoon, when I went to the establishment, because the person who served me my order, was the only person there, and her hospitality was quite perpetual, despite the lack of other contributors.

To concede the thorough review I have issued, this restaurant is a great place to get some outstanding calzones, but with the atmosphere, some changes are needed. I will, however, come back for the abundance of comfort food options in the future.

Loved the food, I got the calzone and wings which are pretty good. However, if they add some more sauce to the wings it would be a perfect 5 star. The people are great and its a chill spot to eat at.

This place is my vegan dream come true!

I come down to Ft Collins every 10 weeks so my kitty can see her CSU cancer team. And this is the meal I look forward to every time. I love being able to make a build-your-own vegan style. Thank you! ( I know it’s an odd one — vegan cheese, mushrooms, pineapple, olives).

Tonight, the vegan cheese sticks are divine. I had to call and confirm that they truly had no dairy in them as they smelled and looked like cheesy (dairy) bread sticks.

Delicious! Thank you! Frisco, CO should take some vegan notes from Ft Collins.

The college culture here is unmatched. Soda machine? No ice. Tables and chairs? All sticky. Bathroom doors? Broken. Don’t change a thing. 5/5

D.P. Dough calzones were delicious! We ordered the Chicken Parmazone and Ram Zone. The cheese filling were generous and dough is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also loved their cookies baked in house! Excited to find a calzone joint we love and will come back for more!

Ordering online via the app is easy. My food was ready when I arrived early for my pickup and when I got it home it tasted maybe even better than I’d remembered or hoped. It was genuinely, and easily, the best part of my day!

Friends suggested we go here after Band Practice. My fiance loves Calzones, so we figured it would be a winner. I currently have gestational diabetes, so I couldn’t partake (even though I enjoy them too), but I figured a pizza-type of place would have wings, so it would be fine.

The meals came out one at a time. It first friend hit his Calzone about 10 min before the rest of us, so he waited a bit to eat with us, but not knowing his much longer it would be and not wanting his food to get cold, he finally started eating. He was almost finished once our other friend got his Calzone, and was done by the time we got our food.

The menu is “zone” themed for the CalZONES (ie: End Zone, Twilight Zone, Buffer Zone, etc) which was cute. My fiance got the Combat Zone, which looked like it has lots of great meats. The cheese smelled delicious. Unfortunately, he said it was “just ok.. wouldn’t go back for it.”

They had boneless and traditional options, as I expected, and there were several good looking flavors, so I thought it would work out. I always go traditional, and they had a 6pc for $9.50 and a 12pc for $15.50; the latter seemed perfect. I asked if I could do the 12pc and have 3 different flavors, but the guy taking the order said no. I asked if I could do 2 flavors, so he said he could, but he’d charge me for 6 and 6 ($18 total). I don’t think it should cost $2.50 extra to wash one more bowl for coating wings in flavors (nor would I have cared if it were done in the same bowl), and I don’t think my request was unreasonable. I was dissatisfied that I would have had to pay extra just to get a little flavor variety with what little I could choose from on the menu. There’s no good reason he couldn’t have worked with me. I didn’t want to inconvenience the rest of our party with my dietary restriction due to pregnancy, so I bit my tongue, and ate crow. Not the meal I was hoping for..

My husband and I used to live near D.P. Dough, and it was our go-to spot for late-night meals, especially during those late study sessions for finals. Now that we’ve moved to another state, this place is still a must-visit whenever we’re back in town. The food is delicious, and the fact that they stay open so late makes it perfect for those late-night cravings. I highly recommend the Chicken & Bacon Calzone with Jalapeño Ranch—it’s amazing! D.P. Dough will always have a special place in our hearts!

Boy do I love DP dough, idk if it’s just the fact that I can get one so late that it doesn’t make sense or that they’re so tasty and reasonably priced. Either way I love DP dough and recommend it to anyone who eats food. 🙂
