Ordered half pound of corned beef and pastrami mixed, and half pound of corned beef combos. When I got home ready to dive into my sandwich, the meat was really scarce. I called to talk to someone about the meat not possibly being 1/2 lb, which is 8 ounces. The lady I spoke with said, “It’s not the meat that is a half pound, it’s the entire sandwich including the bread.” I was out done. I just said that’s nice to know and hung up. They don’t have to worry about getting my hard earned dollars anymore.

I ordered from this location today since it’s close by. I have been wanting to try them for months and finally got the opportunity. The person who gave us our food did not greet us or acknowledge us in any way when we arrived. When our order was ready he just walked up to the counter and left the food there. He didn’t even call a name or say hello. I said thank you and he responded have a good day very rudely with his back turned. My sandwich was not good. The meat doesn’t even taste seasoned and it’s over cooked. I wanted to try the soul food but after this experience this will be my first and last time.

Our first time here. My daughter Bella and I ordered BBQ chicken, dressing, Mac and cheese, yams, cornbread and peach cobbler with pink lemonade. Not bad for $23.62.

Today we ordered take out from this establishment and the food along with the service was nasty. The lady was rude and very unprofessional when my 86 year old mother requested Lima Beans she said to my mother do you see Lima Beans on the menu? The menu is right there up beside the wall. You don’t know if the customer can read the menu because of eye issues or what… why just not be polite and if you don’t live what you do, quit. That was very uncalled for and we will never patronize this place again. It’s sad that when you try to support Black businesses they act this way.

Their menu is limited. They USED to give you so much meat, it couldn’t fit in the bread. Now there’s barely enough of any of the ingredients. I like to support small businesses, but the price is the quantity of food doesn’t seem worth it.

The “soul food” here is horrible. I’ve eaten at this place a couple of times but never again after tonight. The sandwiches were decent when they first opened up but the meat is tough and salty now. I ordered the short ribs tonight and I was extremely disappointed with the quality of food…the meat looked and smelled old and was a dark pink color inside, the hard rice wasn’t edible and neither was the undercooked cornbread. Hospitals serve better food than this and it definitely wasn’t worth the $26 I paid. Took 2 bites and was sick to my stomach. I had high hopes for this small business when they came to Cal City especially since it is black owned but unfortunately I will no longer support them.

I saw their post on Facebook and decided to try them out. Very disappointed I ordered the Turkey wing dinner with my sides greens and dressing asked for cranberry sauce. Once got to window no Turkey wings so I ordered smothered pork chops instead. Firstly they gave me a plate full of salty gravy meat no where to be found in gravy my sides of dressing looks like brown mashed potatoes with no cranberry sauce I asked for twice and the greens taste like they came out of a can . Waste of money there is nothing soul food about my food 20 bucks wasted. I will not be going back .

I’ve been a frequent customer over the last two years and usually the food is ok. However for the last few months, I’ve been experiencing longer wait times and extremely poor food quality. I finally decided to write a review in hopes of an opportunity for improvement. Today I was instructed to park and wait an additional 15mins, for my order. I was hopeful the food would be fresh. Instead I received the picture’d and all of it was horrible.

Saw the sign “Soul Food “ , so I had to try, had the Catfish Dinner and two sides, the catfish was seasoned just and fried right, the sides were not great but ok, the red beans and rice needed more flavor and the collard greens looked like spinach and tasted off. But overall will try again.
