Service is always polished and personal. Dealing with the waiters or bartenders feels effortless, like they are a step ahead without hovering. The room sets the mood perfectly. Exposed brick, white tablecloths, soft table lamps, and modern paintings by local artists create a warm, intimate space. Dark leather chairs, tin ceiling, and sculptural light fixtures give it an old Hollywood feel without trying too hard.
If you want a romantic dinner or just a flawlessly cooked meal with great wine, this is the spot. We always look forward to what they are doing next.
My wife gets upset with me if we can’t eat there every night so we will keep booking.
We began with the oysters à la Cynthia, the smoked salmon special, a cup of tomato chorizo soup, and the pear salad. The oysters were gritty and not fully cooked, which is completely unacceptable. That’s not a minor mistake, that’s a fundamental failure in execution and food safety.
The smoked salmon “special” was embarrassing. It tasted like something assembled entirely from store-bought ingredients, with zero creativity or effort. There was nothing special about it other than the audacity to charge restaurant prices for something so basic.
The tomato chorizo soup was the only redeeming item of the entire meal and genuinely enjoyable, which only made the rest of the experience more frustrating.
The pear salad was a mess. Canned pears, raw, unroasted walnuts, gorgonzola, and huge, uncut lettuce leaves. Roast the walnuts. Cut the lettuce. Use fresh fruit. These are entry-level standards, and none of them were met. Serving canned pears and calling it a composed salad is pure laziness.
My girlfriend ordered the cavatelli, described on the menu as “house-made cavatelli with prime sirloin, mushrooms, and peppers in a rosé marsala sauce.” That description was flat-out dishonest. The pasta was clearly store-bought, the “prime sirloin” amounted to four tiny, overcooked pieces, and there were two mushrooms total in the entire dish. The sauce tasted like a generic creamy tomato sauce, no marsala flavor, no depth, no balance. The portion was shockingly small, especially for the $36 price tag. That’s not premium dining, that’s robbery.
I ordered the veal scallopini, and it was literally inedible. The sauce tasted like raw wine mixed with soy sauce, overly salty, harsh, and completely unbalanced. I couldn’t eat more than half, and I am not someone who ever leaves food behind.
The last time I ate at Cynthia’s was around 2015, and it was outstanding. Whatever this restaurant is now bears no resemblance to that experience. Either ownership has changed or the standards have completely collapsed. Charging these prices while putting in this little effort, and blatantly misrepresenting dishes on the menu, is honestly offensive.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I will never eat here again, and I strongly advise anyone reading this to save your money and eat literally anywhere else.
