It took a while to get our food which was surprising because there was so much staff there and for the price we were paying, you’d think the service would be top tier/quick. It was surprisingly not. When the food came, we discovered this yellow sauce that was on EVERYTHING. Not only was it in everything, but it was applied so heavily to each piece of sushi, I couldn’t really tell what I was eating besides sauce. Please see attached photos for proof
The next major complaint is the rice. Why is the rice for each piece, so thick and dense? Each piece should be a comfortable mouthful. I challenge anyone to eat some of these pieces in one shot without being uncomfortable. Please see attached photos for proof.
The next major complaint is the lack of fish on the sushi. It looks like the smallest, economy sized fish on an oversized mountain of rice. Does it really hurt to put on a properly portion of fish to at least match the mountain of rice? Who signed off on this?
The next major complaint is the water refill. How come I have to flag someone down to get my first refill 20-30 mins into my meal? Its just water. There are so many people, so why isn’t this address and for a premium price? There are many sushi joints that charge less and are on top of things like this and more.
The next major complaint is the checkout. You won’t believe what happened…
We got a monologue about the tip and how the servers were seperate from the kitchen and that they should recieve a certain tip because their service is separate from our grievances about the food. As a long time member of this community, I have never heard such a thing. I do believe that tips are shared are they not? Or do I need to go back to the kitchen and tip or not tip the chef separately? There’s more.
We told our issues about the service and food and we were promptly told that there were other sushi places we should check out instead of Cynthias. Is this the normal cash out speech that the staff give to all customers paying nearly $100 to dine? I thought businesses wanted repeat customers and feedback to improve the experience. As per the advice we were given by your staff, we are going to check out the other sushi joints in the area instead of Cynthia’s. I don’t think other sushi joints actively encourage guests to go to the competition, but maybe Cynthia’s does things differently.
The next minor thought is about the robot server. My question is, if we are paying so much to eat there, why can’t we have humans serve the food? Isn’t that good for the community to employ servers instead of promoting more machines? If machines are serving instead of humans, shouldn’t the price be less than other places?
This is not meant to be written with hate. I want businesses to improve and I want to eat good sushi! If you are going to reply and take my review seriously, please do not write back with AI. Robots and AI are what disconnects owners with customer experience. Give me a response that addresses my specific concerns.
We were at table 80 at 3-4:30 March 1, 2026.
Again, please do not reply with AI or else I will know that you did not take my review seriously as my experience was not taken seriously today.
Thank you for you time
Service: Orders are placed through a tablet, and a robot server delivers the food, which was adorable to see in action. It did need a little assistance now and then, but it added to the experience. We arrived early for our reservation and the host kindly seated us right away. The staff overall were attentive and helpful.
Ambiance: The restaurant has lots of seating, and our booth made it easy to have a good conversation. The darker interior worked well for me since I’m sensitive to bright light, and it created a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
Overall: Worth checking out at least once for the experience.
The food was very oily ,you taste the oil more than the food itself!
Also, the staff cleared our table and brought the bill without even asking us, even though we wanted to order more. We had to ask several times to get the menu back, which was quite strange. The service didn’t feel professional or customer-focused!
September 2025, consistently good food choices and excellent customer service by Assistant Manager Fanny.
October 2025, good food and excellent customer service by Patrick.
Various dishes made to order fresh. various dishes that were supposed to be hot were not.
Cutlery and dishes were brought out more than once dirty which i had to inform staff. The men’s washroom had a foul smell.
The food is nothing special. I doubt I’d return in future.
10% discount if you pay cash, tip is included.
Two people was 102$
The service was quick and friendly, and I loved that the staff kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable—perfect for a night out with friends or family.
The sushi was fresh and well-presented, and the hot dishes were seasoned just right. Best part? The dessert options were surprisingly good too—I couldn’t resist the fried banana and ice cream!
Definitely recommend coming hungry—you’ll want to try a bit of everything!
