The decor & lighting is on point, the place looks clean, and parking is easy.
Cons: The bathroom is shared with the hotel, but it is painfully tiny. I have been hit HARD by the door multiple times, there is no room to do anything in there.
-The tip options on the debit machine makes me cringe, they start out at 20% & go to 35%. I am a person that tips well, though seeing that really doesn’t sit well with me, and I’m in the service industry.
Future reference to whoever was in the kitchen, separate the wet from the dry for takeout!
Picture to show what was left when the attempt to eat was done…
My only issue, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the beer pour. I ordered a lager listed as 20oz, but it was served in what I’m confident was an 18oz glass.
I know the difference, and it didn’t match what was on the menu.
Fixing that would easily make this a 5/5 spot.
I really hope this was a one off experience, every server has rough days and maybe it was what I ordered. I will give it another try, there must be something that keeps it busy!
I have to add to this review!!!
Since my review CVI has reached out with a response directly! That’s so amazing and Bonnie you are awesome. I will definitely reach out, not looking for any special favors just very appreciative that you are actively involved and take the care you do! Look forward to meeting you and visiting your restaurant again!
While traveling through the island on our babymoon, we decided to stop by this place as it came highly recommended by a local friend. We went for lunch on a Wednesday around 1pm, and I would say it was quite lively for the time of day and week we had visited. You have to enter through Best Western, but do not have to be a guest at the inn to dine at the restaurant.
First of all, I really loved the ambience of the lounge – although they had dimmed lighting, the natural lighting coming in from the windows provided perfect balance for a lunchtime visit. The beautiful bar area, string lights and cute touches to the walls gave off a really fun, yet cozy vibe to the interior as well.
The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. Our server gave us some recommendations and we decided to order the Cauliflower Bites, Seafood Chowder, Chicken & Broccoli Bowl, and the Beef Dip Burger. The appies arrived first, and I cannot rave enough about how good these were! The cauliflower bites were lightly battered and had a really nice crunch without being at all too greasy or heavy. I was quite impressed with the seafood chowder as well, as it was not super salty or heavy as I have had in other restaurants in the past. The seafood tasted very fresh, and I enjoyed the different combinations of flavors I could taste with every spoonful, as the soup consisted of various types of veggies and seafood.
For the main dishes, the Chicken & Broccoli Rice Bowl had a great peanut sauce with some very fresh and tender chicken breast. I wouldn’t say the sauce is an authentic Thai recipe, but it was tasty regardless! I had a bite of my hubby’s burger, and was really impressed at the quality of the patty – super juicy, yet not too fatty. The brioche bun paired perfectly with the texture of the other ingredients, and the au jus (served on the side in a gravy boat) was nice and flavorful and really brought the whole burger together. The server checked in on us every now and then to make sure everything was going okay, and I just had praises everytime she dropped by. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience at CVI and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who may be in the area or passing through Duncan.
