If you’re looking for authentic flavor and top-tier customer service, Cuz N Dem is where you need to be! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was welcoming and the food? Straight
I had the cracked conch, and it was some of the best I’ve ever tasted—tender, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. I also tried the cucumber lemonade and WOW… it was so refreshing and full of flavor. Don’t skip it!
For my main, I went with the snapper fillet bowl with rice and peas, and added a side of creamy, delicious mac and cheese. Everything was cooked to perfection and full of that real home-cooked taste.
This place might be a hidden gem, but the food is unforgettable. Every time I come back home, I try to find new spots—and this one is officially a favorite. Highly recommend to anyone who loves good food made with love. You won’t be disappointed!
We eventually asked the couple next to us how to order, and they told us to go up to the window and ring the bell. As we got up to place our order, another group came in and sat at the table we had been waiting for. There are only four tables for dine-in, so seating is very limited. Luckily, another couple left while we were ordering, so we were able to grab their table.
Here’s what really confused me: the same woman with braids, who never spoke to us, went over and took the order of the group that sat at our original table. Why acknowledge them and not us?
When it came time to order, none of the items featured in the Instagram video were available—no mac and cheese, no salmon bites, no seafood empanadas, no sweet potatoes fries, no “yum yum” sauce. Only the fried fish was available from the list of recommendations. Disappointing, especially considering the viral attention the place got. You’d think they’d keep those featured items in stock.
We both added the conch salad, which ended up being the highlight of the meal—definitely “chef’s kiss.” I spent 10 days in Freeport, Bahamas last year, and this salad was just as good as what I had there.
However, the wait time was outrageous. We arrived at 2 PM and didn’t leave until 5 PM. Between figuring out how to order, waiting for a table, and then waiting on the food—it was just too much.
Food: 7/10
Service: 3/10
Logistics: Needs serious improvement
I’m not sure I’d return. It’s frustrating to visit a place based on a viral review, only to find that none of the highlighted items are available. We even overheard another customer saying she came because of the same video and was equally disappointed.
I Googled for restaurants and came across Cuz n Dem. I looked at the menu and thought we should take a shot. When we drove up, I looked and saw that the place was quite small, but people were stopping by to pick up their orders.
We walked in around 2pm on Monday July 7th. No other customers were there at the time, but the vibes for me was just that, GREAT. I didn’t really want to be around a whole lot of people anyways. It made to be an intimate setting for us at the moment. The music was on point.
We were greeted by Joe Joe not too long after we arrived. He presented us with a Summer Menu and then a regular menu. His customer service was spot on. I told him that I was torn and he made a suggestion. So I ordered the Caribbean rice bowl with Salmon bites. My guy ordered the same. However, I asked for the Jasmine rice and he asked for the Peas and rice (he’s Jamaican☝ ). Food was awesome. We both enjoyed. Joe Joe was very attentive to our table. The cucumber lemonade topped it off for me. It was very refreshing. We were hungry so I didn’t take pictures.
We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day. This time I ordered the Caribbean Bowl with Shrimp. My guy ordered the Conch fritters with fries. Another great foodie experience. Of course, I had to get on that cucumber lemonade.
Don’t sleep on the small businesses. We really enjoyed our time there. Big ups to Joe Joe.
The seafood empanadas were filled and tasted great on their own. They were accompanied by a honey based sauce which wasn’t necessary because the empanadas held their own. The whole snapper was huge. It’s a nice size snapper. The crust stayed crispy to the end. I had the rice and conch to go because I couldn’t finish them.
The staff was friendly and made me feel like they’ve known me for years. It’s a great place with a nice atmosphere and I can’t wait to try everything else on the menu.
But there’s definitely room for this establishment to grow. First of all the set up is low-key sketchy because it’s in the cut. Secondly, they don’t take cash. Cash is King. Lastly, you can’t call in an order and pay when you pick it up. It seems like they may still be budgeting with operations or something. I don’t know, but it didn’t feel comfortable or welcoming or like they wanted my money.
The owner told me the biggest complaint he gets is the wait time for food, but it’s worth it. A lot of the dishes with lobster weren’t available because he was waiting on a fresh shipment from his family in the Bahamas. That’s how fresh the seafood is.
He’s been open for 13 months and started in his sister’s backyard. On weekends, the place is booming. Please go show this spot some love and try things you normally wouldn’t — like the conch taco, seafood empanada, or conch sushi.
And please, don’t come here ordering wings. This is Cuz n Dem Seafood, not Cuz n Dem Chicken Wings . You won’t regret it. Solid 10 out of 10.
