Custard was great! Ordered a large vanilla with Oreo, cookie dough, and Reese’s with hot fudge. The same amount of ice cream as a McDonald’s cone. Was expecting a little more for a large but there was still enough to split.

This was my first time. Driven by the place for years but never stopped. Always seems busy so I assumed the food was good. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger for 15.50 which came with fries and fry sauce. The fries were hot and delicious and not greasy. The burger was large with fresh veggies decent-sized Patty but no sauce whatsoever. They had ketchup and mustard packets available at the counter. Menu said it came with sweet relish which it did not. It did come with sliced dill pickle of which I asked for extra but if you call five slices extra I would debate it. Overall the hamburger was tasty but a little greasy because they do brown the bun with butter I’m assuming. The vanilla custard Shake was delicious. Not so sure I will be returning anytime soon but I might go back and try something else on the menu. Outdoor covered seating was clean and comfortable if you don’t mind the noisy traffic going by since it’s right on the corner. Staff was friendly.

They have a separate fryer for the tater tots and fries, so they are safe for gluten sensitivities! Also have great gluten free buns. One of the best diner type burgers I have had and with friendly service. This was our favorite meal while in Astoria.

Custard King is a nostalgic little gem that totally hit the spot on our visit. I picked up small swirl cups with hot fudge for my kids and they absolutely loved them — creamy, rich, and just the right size for a sweet treat. The swirl was classic and smooth, and the hot fudge was perfectly gooey without being too much. Service was quick and friendly, and there’s a fun, old-school vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. Great stop for a low-key dessert that doesn’t disappoint.

I wanted to try this classic
custard and hamburger stand
and had a good experience.

I ordered a grilled chicken
burger with fries, and a vanilla
custard with berry toppings
after a short wait in line.

The menu has burgers tacos, clam chowder, and frozen
custard milkshakes, floats,
and cones with a large selection of toppings.

I received a pager for my order
and it took about fifteen minutes.

The chicken burger had good
taste and was not overcooked.
It was a little messy with the
sauce dripping out of the
burger.

The homemade fries were
crispy and a little salty.

The vanilla custard was rich
and a little sweet with the berry
toppings.

Located on the corner of 16th
and Commercial Street in
Astoria with limited street
parking.

You will find outdoor seating
and a walk-up window with
a line of people.

A nice place to stop for lunch and a frozen treat with friendly
service, good food, and a
classic hamburger stand vibe.

The bacon cheese burger is delicious. The fries are perfectly crispy with a wonderful sauce. I bought a sticker for my travel cooler.
Love me some Custard King!

These people are so awesome. I came to them with a concern about an allergy and I was taken serious and accommodated! They are the most polite fun group of people. Truly loved them. Also their FOOD?!! It was amazing!! I got their black and blue burger and added some grilled onions. And got a surprise for the custard because I couldn’t decide, she put their house made lemon curd ice cream (legit the best lemon curd I’ve ever had) with Oregon Marionberry preserves and cheesecake bites all displayed into a waffle bowl. Such a nice place. Very very good food.

I’m giving this establishment an 5-star rating based on the ice cream alone! Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to try their food since this was just a quick stop on our way to dinner.
It’s a walk-up counter where you place your order, and everything coming out of the window looked incredible. I went with their popular ice cream—though I forgot the exact name—but it was super creamy, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious.
Customer service was fast and friendly, making the experience even better. Next time I’m in Astoria, I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!

I normally don’t even write reviews but goodness. Don’t get me wrong the food is good, and if you get custard its really good and quick, however there are loooooong wait times. We ordered a single side of fries at 4:19, and our buzzer wasnt called until 4:54. We were warned there would be a wait, but I didn’t expect 35 minutes for a single side of fries, especially when you could see the workers just standing around and talking, as well as several people who ordered after us recieving their food first.
