So many family memories have started or ended with a trip to the Custard Hut and Pizza for LBI visitors since the 1950s! We have owned and operated since 1997 and committed ourselves to carrying on some amazing traditions to keep the fond memories of good times & good food going today. We have grown the ice cream shop to include a mouthwatering menu from fish tacos and cheesesteaks, to mac and cheese bites and burgers. Whether for a cool-down lunch break from the beach or a family sunset walk for ice cream, we are always here and ready to make your experience an awesome one!

Always a hit or miss. Ordered a fancy cone to treat myself and watched it get pulled out of a plastic ziplock back from a lower cabinet. I immediately thought well that’s got to be cracked. Adding ice cream made it worse and I was handed my shattered desert, minus the sprinkles I ordered. I had to ask for a cup to help and still ate it all, but it was a struggle. For the price I paid it was fairly disappointing.

Only quick place in the area that serves food until midnight, most other places (Joey’s, Burger 25) close at 10PM. Food is decent but great for late night munchies when nothing else is open. Friendly service! May have to wait in line behind people getting ice cream.

What a ridiculous overpriced place huge menu and unsatisfactory horrible food. $3 dollars for small slice of pizza ( as you can see in photo) and a Gyro inedible and thrown away. Over 5.dollars for fries this small..OMG.. I don’t care where this place is they need a reality check. And before anyone comments I would see where I have eaten..

Decent pizza, but everything else was pretty awful and our order was made incorrectly. The cheesesteaks were very dry and only had a few toppings that were sparsely placed, the crab cake was burnt, curly fries and crab sticks were burnt to a crisp. Would not recommend.

Great place to stop and get some ice cream! It’s honestly pretty good. Older teens work there and they do a good job! We really enjoy coming down here every year and getting our favorite ice creams.

I see a handful of reviews with complaints about the food. But can we be real for a second. If you go to a place named the ‘Custard Hut’ … just get the ice cream, people 🙂 There are plenty of fine eating establishment on LBI.
The attendants were friendly, the ice cream was yummy and the vibe is beachy. Highly recommended.

The food was expensive and tasted horrible. A veggie burger for $14 consisted of the patty and the buns. They charge extra for toppings.
The onion rings looked
as frozen and not fresh. Folks that are used to microwave food will find the place appealing. I appreciate that inflation was high close to 7-8 percent in 2022 and has fallen to less than 3 percent in 2025 but many of the businesses have not reflected that reduction in their prices and often the so-called transitory higher prices become permanent.

I have only tried the Pizza and Ice cream.
The pizza tasted like boxed frozen pizza. We actually threw it out it was so bad.
The ice cream was turkey hill the same as you get in the supermarket.
You would think a place called the custard hut would serve frozen custard not cheap ice cream.
I hate to give bad reviews.
If the owners would like to show me that the have fixed their pizza and Ice cream let me know. I will walk on over

Just ordered a chicken parm sub. Wish I could rate it a negative. The $15 sandwich was completely torched. Inedible. If it wasn’t for the fact that we are completely exhausted I would have taken it back. Wish I could attach a pic for credibility

I had the blackened fish taco basket. That comes with straight or curly fries. I ordered a garden salad on the side. Great green and delicious salad. I got 2 meals out of it! Root beer float too! Love this laid back restaurant on LBI summer of 2025! Free parking nearby and public restrooms are on 67th Street.
