My family took me here for birthday lunch today, the food was good. Dishes come with way too much rice, hint hint asked for extra gravy for sure! The curry soul rolls were excellent but very small. My main dish was curry shrimp that included potatoes, a heap of rice with peas and for the side, mango slaw. Over all the food was ok! Too bad the menu was outdated, and they did not have any desert. Over all the food was good. Thanks

If you’re ever in Richmond and craving some authentic, flavorful, soul-satisfying Caribbean food, Curry’s Caribbean Restaurant at 119 Leigh Street is the spot to be! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm smiles, the aroma of rich spices, and a vibe that immediately felt like home.

Let’s start with the food because WOW! The oxtails were absolutely phenomenal….. fall-off-the-bone tender, rich, and braised in a perfectly seasoned gravy that made you want to smack yo mama and lick the plate clean lol. You could tell they took their time cooking them right. Then there were the crispy cups that were little golden pockets of heaven! I tried them with both shrimp and cabbage and oxtails with mac and cheese, and each bite was like a mini explosion of flavor. The shrimp were juicy and perfectly seasoned, and pairing them with the crispy cup was genius. But the oxtail cups? Game-changer. Savory, juicy, and crispy all at once you’ve got to try them to understand how good they are.

Now let’s talk about the service. Our server Cameron was a total standout! He was friendly, super knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely made us feel like VIP guests. He knew just when to check in, and even made a few great recommendations that hit the spot. His energy and professionalism added so much to our experience.

As if that wasn’t enough, the owner came out to personally greet us and make sure we were enjoying our meal. That kind of hospitality is rare nowadays. You could see their passion for the food and the community in every interaction. They were welcoming, down-to-earth, and truly care about creating not just great meals, but great moments. Curry’s isn’t just a restaurant it’s a whole vibe. Whether you’re coming in for a casual meal or looking for the perfect place to host your next event, this place has it all. The space is cozy, clean, and full of character — perfect for celebrations, gatherings, or just catching up with good company over amazing food.

In short, Curry’s Caribbean is a hidden gem in Richmond that deserves all the love and support. The food? A+. The service? Top tier. The atmosphere? Welcoming and full of good energy. Whether you’re a longtime Caribbean food lover or new to the scene, Curry’s will have you coming back again and again.

5 out of 5 stars I highly recommend!

How is it that you can travel a thousand miles from home only to feel like you’ve walked right back through your own front door? That’s exactly what Curry’s Southern Caribbean Cuisine gave me. From the moment I stepped inside, the warmth of the people made me feellike I was pulling up to a family cookout but Jamaican-style family. The food was on delicious! (Wink, wink, don’t tell my favorite Jamaican spot back in NOLA, but Miss Sylvia’s Stewed Chicken was the best I’ve ever had). The food, the people, the place…it was that perfect balance of comfort and soul. If you’re looking for a place where hospitality and incredible food meet, Curry’s is it! It’s now on my forever list of places to hit up whenever I’m in RVA.

Loved the vibe and decor. The owner came to our table to make sure every thing was alright. LOVED everything we ordered which was the entire menu. Each item was well seasoned. The ox tail and sorrel drink were better than I’ve EVER had anywhere. Definitely 5 stars. Shout out to Elissa and Krystal for their recommendation.

Before writing this review, I gave this place three chances. The first time was amazing, which is why I returned. The second visit wasn’t great, but I understand that everyone has an off night. However, this past weekend was unacceptable, especially considering the price we paid for our meal.

I know some may question ordering mac and cheese from a Jamaican spot, but unfortunately, it was bland and dry. The cabbage had no flavor at all, and the jerk chicken was disappointingly dry. I got my order to go, and the portion sizes were very small—check the attached picture.

On a positive note, the rice and peas were very good. I really wanted to continue supporting this place, but the inconsistency in quality makes it hard to justify returning.

This is hands down the most authentic and delicious Caribbean food I’ve had in the states—and that includes NYC! I don’t visit Richmond often, but that’s definitely going to change just so I can enjoy Curry’s more often.

The oxtail, jerk chicken sandwich, and salmon crispy cups were all incredible. On top of that, it feels great supporting such a kind, family-run business. Truly a gem!

Experience was wonderful. Food was fresh and delicious. Everyone working there was polite and very attentive. I didn’t pay for the food, so I can’t comment on that, but I did return for a quick stop one late afternoon and got a patty with coco bread and some doubles. Mouth watering delicious. Once they know you the love they show you is so warming, sought of like the TV show “CHEERS”. May this place continues to be great and blessed.

You’d think with a name like “Curry’s “ they have nice goat, wrong. The goat had no color, the cabbage was more yellow than it, the taste was mediocre and the rice was either undercooked or they actually served me “bun bun” ,waste of money. Could never be cooking for Caribbean people with that quality of food.

Went here looking for some good Ox tails on a Sunday afternoon. This place sits where Southern Kitchen used to sit downtown. The ox tails were good. Cost a bit for what I got. I ordered several dishes including Mac and cheese, chicken sliders, & rum cake. They all tasted good (rum cake not my thing so I didn’t like it) but came at a hefty price in my opinion. Not amped about going back but if I’m in the neighborhood I would drop by
