The restaurant is located at a very prime and happening location. The vibe of the place is good and so is the food. The paneer makhani was delicious so was the paneer tikka. But the only turn off was for an Indian restaurant they didn’t have enough vegetarian options. And the staff didn’t seem interested in serving us as it was near the closing time.

We had a beautiful meal here. The staff were very friendly. The place was quiet. As soon as we sat down, we were given water, and then they brought out some papadams and yoghurt. Entree was chicken tikka, which we shared. Great portion size. After finishing off a beer, we ordered mains. I ordered the Goan prawn curry and the better half ordered a saag chicken. We also ordered a tdaka deal and plain rice as sides. Again, these portions were a good size. Everything tasted great. We will be back. Highly recommend. 9/10.

Did a takeaway of chicken tikka, seekh kebab, keema naan, and chicken biryani.

The chicken tikka was the highlight – good quantity and really juicy, tender pieces.

Seekh kebab was too dry and chewy, almost like soft rubber.

Keema naan was big and well-filled, but the keema was quite dry.

Chicken biryani tasted more like a pulao – average flavor and small portion.

On the plus side, packaging was solid with no spills, and the restaurant has nice indoor and outdoor seating.

They really need to improve the lamb quality and preparation.

Starting with a walk down some edgy stairs, a cozy Curry Vault restaurant was there waiting with great service upon entry. This great service was then provided throughout the whole dining experience. The evening was a nice cultural experience with great local tunes playing and then to make the night all the more memorable, the food was amongst the best Indian my family and I have ever eaten. Definitely will be heading back to Curry Vault for a beautiful dining experience, delicious meal and warm service too.

What amazing food this place serves! I don’t know why I hadn’t ordered from this place earlier, despite it being so close to my place. But as they say, better late than never. Thos place offeted me the best of what I had ordered, and the satisfaction I achieved was beyond anything that I could’ve imagined.

I ordered a Biryani ($16.90) with Lamb (+ $3.90) along with 2 pieces of Vegetable Samosas (Potatoes and green peas tossed with spices, rolled in triangular pastries and deep fried, ($7.80). To be honest, I was expecting the same generic biryani and samosas. My expectations got flipped when I received my food.

The moment I opened the box I knew that this wasn’t like anything else. The fragrance of biryani was marvellous. The biryani was exceptionally tasty. The rice was perfect, the lamb pieces were big, perfectly cooked and in good numbers. The raita was just roght enough and elevated the dish. This was a biryani one expects, and something I’d be willing to pay for.

The samosas were hands down some of the best I’ve had in Melbourne so far, far better than what Dropout Chaiwala or any other place offers. The samosas were big, the biggest I’ve come across in Melbourne so far, and they were packed with delicious fillings, reminding me of my home. With the tamarind chutney, it was a delight to have those. That’s how samosas should be made.

I’d like to visit this place in person and check-out their other dishes. If this is their standard, I couldn’t be happier . Great food, and you really get your money’s worth, made the whole culinary experience so much more satisfying. Highly recommended!

Dishes ordered:

1. Lamb Biryani (1 plate)- $19.90
2. Vegetable Samosas (2 pieces) – $7.80

A DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE:

Our recent dining experience at Curry Vault restaurant has left us deeply dissatisfied. The restaurant failed to meet basic expectations in terms of both service and food quality.

Firstly, the vegetable curry we ordered was a complete disappointment. Not only were the vegetables frozen, but it also lacked the promised cashews, despite being clearly advertised on the menu. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to mislead customers with false advertisements. When asking the worker, she replied “the veggies are fresh, and the cashews are blended into a powder before mixing it in.” Absolutely false – we feel absolutely cheated and appalled.

Moreover, the wait time for the food was unacceptable. We patiently waited for a whole hour, only to be met with disappointment. The excessive wait not only tested our patience but also heightened our expectations for a delicious meal.

The lack of attention from the staff further added to the frustration and contributed to an overall unpleasant experience. We also noticed another couple have the exact same experience saying “the food has taken so long, we are going to leave as we have other commitments” – how appalling from staff to not even compensate!

It is disheartening when a restaurant fails to deliver on its promises. Customers expect to receive what they ordered, as well as prompt and attentive service. In this case, the restaurant failed on both counts.

The only redeeming dish was the chicken rogan josh which was nice.

Food was really flavorful and served in a reasonable amount of time (around 10min) for peak dinner period. Was given complimentary pappadum and water right as we sat down. Ordered butter chicken and lamb vindaloo, as well as 2 portions of garlic naan- all had a good portion of meat. They asked us for our spice preferences for each dish, which was very considerate of them.

Service staff were attentive and helpful.

The only downside is that the place had a odd smell to it, perhaps a dehumidifer or air freshener might help.

Booked lunch for 10 old colleagues and had a great time. Food was excellent and service from the young waitress was friendly and very professional. Not the first time I’ve had a great lunch there and won’t be the last.

Curry Vault has a range of great-tasting Indian dishes and curries but prices were very high and portions were small. It wasn’t very busy during the time we visited, but the wait time for the food was almost an hour (and we finished eating everything in 15 minutes). Overall, service in this restaurant was incredibly slow and dishes were not worth the price.
