This was an excellent lunch! I’d visited here during a dumpling festival and came back because another diner was raving about the rest of the menu (and even insisted on letting us try a bite of his!). So I met a friend for lunch.
They were previously in the public market (where a Vanc foodie friend had tried them while visiting and raved about their food).
We split: paneer pakoras (excellent little bites with a delicious mint dipping sauce); goat curry (lovely rich curry sauce at a 2 spice level {mild/med} so there’s plenty of room for adj for everyone’s taste); lamb biryani (such fragrant rice and tender pieces of lamb); and a lachha paratha.
Nothing disappointed and we’ll be back again soon to try more of the menu. The person serving us was so lovely, moving tables to accommodate all the dishes we’d ordered and helping us pack-up leftovers.
It’s a quirky location, but there’s plenty of seating. Free street parking is nearby. They open at noon for lunch.

Best chole bhature in town! Must try! And it’s vegan ! They have lots of vegan friendly options. Their hospitality is out of this world. The owner welcomes you with smile , serves with so much love and understands needs of her customer. Truly amazing! Keep it up guys!

First time coming here today at lunch and the service was amazing. I was greeted right away by a friendly young man and had my order taken by a lady who was very patient with me since I was unsure of what I wanted. I ordered the tandoori roti, samosa and goat curry that came with rice. The food came out fresh, the flavours of the dishes were very authentic tasting and I like how you can adjust your spice level. The young man came back a few times to check on how the food was and at the end of my meal, he helped with getting me some to go boxes. I’m definitely coming back here again, this place is amazing from their food to their customer service. I’m so glad I was able to check it out today!

Ever since they closed the public market location, I’ve been waiting for them to re-open, and finally they did. I’ll say despite moving to a bigger place, the flavours haven’t changed and for this – a perfect 10!!! This is my go to place for the classic Chole Bhature and it’s the same as it used to be; it’s the only place in Victoria nailing the spice and piquancy of this dish perfectly.
I did have to wait for quite long, but the owner apologized and also gave me a gift card for next time! That was a kind gesture 🙂

I’ve lived in Victoria for over 30 years, and Curry Shashwat remains my absolute go-to. From the moment you walk in, the staff treats you like family the warmth and hospitality here are just as impressive as the food itself.
The Chef is a true master of his craft. It’s clear he never compromises on the quality of ingredients, resulting in dishes that are perfectly seasoned and incredibly flavorful. On our most recent visit, we had:
Chole Bhature: Simply the best in town.
Aloo Parantha & Shahi Paneer: Rich, authentic, and cooked to perfection.
Gol Gappa: Fresh, crunchy, and hits the spot every time.
Veggie Indo-Chow Mein: The perfect fusion of spices.
The portion sizes are very generous (definitely enough for lunch the next day!), and the service is outstanding. Beyond dining in, they are also our office’s favorite for large takeout orders. Everything is always packed with such care, which we truly appreciate.

Absolutely loved this place! We ordered Paav Bhaji, Papri chaat and paneer tikka masala. The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was perfectly spiced and tasted fresh and homemade. The service was warm and attentive, and the staff made great recommendations. I had an incredible experience at Curry Shaswat Indian Cuisine! The food was absolutely delicious — I ordered the Chole Bhature and Chow Mein, and both dishes were PERFECT. The chole was rich and full of flavour, the bhature were soft and perfectly fried, and the chow mein was so tasty with the perfect balance of spices. You can tell they put real love into their cooking.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent from start to finish. They made sure everything was just right and it truly felt like they cared about our experience.
This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to. Amazing food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back and recommending it to everyone!
