10 out of 10, one of the best restaurants in the country by far!

Current Fish & Oyster in downtown Salt Lake City absolutely wrecked my taste buds in the best way possible.

I’ve eaten seafood for 35 glorious years! Yes, even that one suspicious shrimp cocktail in 2004.. and nothing has come close to this.

The oysters tasted like Poseidon personally harvested them for me. The scallops were so tender I questioned my entire relationship with chicken.

The crab legs had me giggling like a toddler on a sugar high. Every bite was like getting hugged by a salty ocean mermaid with Michelin stars.

My server basically became my spiritual guide through a journey of butter and bliss. If heaven has a kitchen, it probably looks a lot like this place.

10/10 someone call the coast guard, because I’m never leaving. ✨

Dining at Current Fish & Oyster in Salt Lake City was an experience that blended freshness, flavor, and finesse in every way. I ordered the scallops and shrimp, which were beautifully prepared and paired with a touch of cheese and fresh fruits—an unexpected but delightful combination that highlighted the natural sweetness of the seafood. We also enjoyed their fish tacos, which were light yet full of flavor, with perfectly seasoned fish and crisp toppings that came together in every bite.

The martinis deserve their own spotlight. Each one was crafted with care, balanced perfectly, and served with a touch of elegance that elevated the evening. From the first sip, it was clear the bar team knows exactly what they’re doing. Their cocktails matched the meal effortlessly, complementing the fresh seafood while giving the night a celebratory feel.

The restaurant’s atmosphere ties everything together. With its sleek, modern design and a vibe that feels both sophisticated and welcoming, Current Fish & Oyster offers a setting that’s ideal for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. The service was attentive without being overbearing, creating a seamless dining experience from start to finish. With its outstanding food, stellar drinks, and inviting ambiance, this is easily a five-star destination in Salt Lake City.

Very few restaurants in SLC that do not disappoint and I can add Current to the list!
Came for our anniversary and was greeted with a happy anniversary menu and friendly waiter. Let’s get to food:

Apps: crab cake 9/10, calamari 10/10, broiled oysters 9/10 all very delicious, tender, fresh and seasoned impeccably. I would come back just to eat all the apps!

Entrees: Scallops 9/10 loved this dish, scallops were tender they gave a big portion.. sauce was very ginger forward which I could do a little less of and the carrots were so good! ..
Sea bass 9/10 the fish was cooked and seasoned so well! I loved the citrus sauce and my only complaint was the beans would do better pureed bc there was a lot of texture with the cabbage already.
Whipped potatoes 11/10 SO GOOD buttery goodness highly recommend!
Drinks & dessert: really enjoyed the Pinot we ordered and the orange wine was decent. For dessert we got affogato and it was perfect not too rich or sweet to end the meal feeling refreshed! We would’ve liked if they would have given us a little happy anniversary doodle on the dessert plate or something to make it feel more special.

Service: our waiter Ehsan (sorry if I got it wrong) was kind, attentive and even helped giving us some of his fave spots in slc.

Ambiance: not too formal nor casual with lots of windows.

All in all a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and beautiful. While there were some dishes I probably wouldn’t try again, that has more to do with personal tastes than an error on their part (for instance, the Calamari seemed bland, but I am used to getting fried Calamari). I also was on the fence about the carrot puree for the scallops, but again – that’s just on me, and I didn’t read the description very well.
Our server was delightful and kept the martini’s coming as I’d indicated I wanted (it’s hard to get a martini in Utah, because it’s only one alcohol, and the stupid state has such stupid rules).

We had a 7:30 reservation on a Wednesday. Service and food delivery was slow. We had clam chowder which was good. The house salad wasn’t my favorite. The crab cakes were outstanding. The scallop entree was good. The salmon was ok. I likely won’t return. Didn’t see the value for the price.

Trying out a seafood place could be challenging, but this place did break the challenge. I have to say the two plates we got to try were delicious; the food was so fresh. I was very pleased with the taste and the texture of the food. Very well, combinations. I also got the lemon oil cake, but I got it to go, and it was not as great as I expected, but I guess I’ll try to eat it in the restaurant to see if there’s a difference in the presentation.

Omg, I’ve been waiting to try this place and it was worth it. The service from our waitress Bonnie was outstanding. Very attentive and welcoming. We started with clam chowder and homemade focaccia bread with a creamed butter. Our main was fish and chips (fries). Serving size is plentiful for the price. Yes, the quality and taste – amazing. Can’t wait to go back and try another dish.

This place is excellent. And it’s topped only by an amazing staff all around that all seem to love what they do. Our food and cocktails were all great. Including the Cauliflower entree that is one of my favorite things I’ve ever had. And the staff was so friendly and amazing. From the front door greeter, to the waitress, to the bussers that we met. Great all around. I cant wait to go back.
