Asked if they could use whole meatballs they said yes. I got chopped meatballs. I would have ordered something else off they said they could not.
If I had known I would be paying so much for 2 meatballs I would have just gone to Stewart’s. $72 for 5 subs and a slice of cheese. So each meatball is at least $6

Large subs were mostly bread – very skimpy on the meat and toppings. My mixed sub was supposed to have ham, salami, and pepperoni; it only had ham and not very much of it. On the positive side, it was tasty and the roll was fresh. I knew I was going to be disappointed when I felt how light the whole thing was. I expected more for $11 each…

I don’t normally write reviews but I can’t refrain any longer! Me and my family order from here quite a bit. (Not because the food is great by any means, but because it’s the only pizza place in the area.) Which is why it’s VERY frustrating to have to deal with their staff, EVERY. TIME. I CALL. ♂️ My wife actually refuses to call now, after having the pleasure of dealing with their rude staff!!! IF you’re lucky enough not to be instantly placed on hold for 5 minutes as soon as they pick up phone (no matter what time of day it is) you will be greeted with a grumpy female who seems bothered that you even had the nerves to call there in the first place! AND, god forbid you have ANY questions about their menu!!! Honestly, the only time I haven’t had to deal with an attitude problem, is when the gentleman answers the phone (which has only happened a handful of times)…The LAST thing me or anyone else should have to deal with while calling an establishment to place an order, is the miserable, unpleasant, rude females who work there! THEN, when you go to pick up your order (as there is NO delivery) you will either have to wait for someone to return from smoking in their car and/or wait for the females to stop gossiping about the locals long enough to actually notice someone standing at the counter. Only to then ask you if you are picking up an order (which will likely not be ready yet anyway)…The way they treat customers (I’ve witnessed multiple phone and in person interactions with customers while standing there waiting for my order to be ready) its almost as if they don’t want the business, at least it’s pretty evident they couldn’t care less either way! How this place has even stayed in business is beyond me… With that being said, tonight will be the last time we EVER spend a penny at their establishment!!!
Thankfully, the Remsen Bakery has recently
re-opened and serves delicious pizza and wings at competitive prices! From now on, we will order from there. Deb is pleasant and is ALWAYS appreciative of your business, and she works hard to keep customers happy (as any small business should)…
Sooo, If you are looking to pay HIGH end prices for LOW end food with miserable staff, then this is the place for you!!!
BUT, if you’d prefer to spend your hard earned money at a place with friendly staff that APPRECIATE your business with fair prices, I suggest you GO ELSEWHERE!!!

Gotta love the wanna be “food critic” below acting like she knows “high quality” cheese . Offer a “premium” kind is laughable. This isn’t Sicily lady. Best pizza in town IMO and 99% of the people I know agree. Wanna be Emeril oughta stick to her day job. Cuginis is GREAT!! HAPPY CUSTOMER OF 13 YEARS HERE!!! No place is perfect and it’s hard to fully staff restaurants and find people who want to work. If they make a mistake they always make it right. They will always get my business!!

The Pizza is closer to NYC style than most upstate places & I would definitely get their pizza again because let’s face it – there isn’t much competition upstate.
If in the Utica area I suggest just going with the best upstate style pizza – which I believe to be Trios in NY Mills. That said Cugini’s is fine – a good option esp if you are in the Barneveld area.
Now it is not truly fine NYC style pizza but let’s keep in mind that truly fine pizza is rare even in NYC. Here is what could be improved:
While the crust is thinner than most upstate places it is still not thin or crisp enough. (The best ever is Vezzo’s @ 178 Lexington NY NY – but that’s a few hundred miles away! )
They could also improve the cheese topping by using high quality cheeses but that would probably lead to a noticeable increase in price to customers. Maybe offering a premium option for serious cheese lovers ??
They can get very busy and they don’t always have the capacity to answer the phone. The counter staff was pretty annoyed with my 7:40 pm arrival the other night; they close at 8 pm. However the pizza maker (who I am guessing might be the owner or manager) told her to take my order. The pizza was ready quickly!
The atmosphere is fine but it is clearly intended to be a take out spot.
