Me an my family of 7 went to Cuddy’s soul food to try something new or new restaurant and spent $145 on everything unfortunately it disappointed us. To start off the customer service wasn’t really on point ww stood there reading the menu for a moment waiting to be greeted we eventually noticed there was a kiosk to order ourselves. The kicker is the food could’ve been and should’ve been fresh. The sides weren’t bad except for the cabbage but my fish was hard and chewy also our oxtail were extremely fatty and light skin under cooked if you ask me.

My friend and I ordered from here yesterday. It wasn’t good. I consider myself simple and easy to please , but no. The chicken was very crispy but didn’t have any flavor. The greens, they had a lot of turkey meat that probably would have been delicious if it wasn’t so salty. The potato salad wasn’t too bad.Pretty simple. That’s how they got the extra star. My cornbread muffin was in the container with the greens and it got soaked with green juice. That was a bummer. Cuddy’s, you guys need to get some new cooks. The ones you got now are trash. How could they not see how salty those greens was? I payed almost fifty dollars just to be disappointed. Step your game up, period.

Chicken tenders were fire. Cornbread and candied yams were average. Mac & cheese was sad – cheese had hardened and not enough salt. Great deal for the platter though. Wish they’d provide reusable dishes for eating in to decrease waste

I tried Cuddys Soul Food Restaurant for the first time and got my food to go. By the time I made it home and sat down to eat, everything was still fresh and full of flavor. The chicken was seasoned just right and the greens tasted like they’d been cooking all day. You can tell they care about what they’re serving. Portions were solid, prices felt fair, and nothing tasted rushed. It’s honestly one of my favorite new places. I’ll definitely be back.

If you like ribs that are heavily sauced and fall completely off the bone, this place may fit your taste. But for anyone who prefers traditional, Southern-style BBQ, these ribs will probably disappoint. The ribs I received were clearly not smoked or barbecued in the traditional sense. The bones and gristle were soft, the meat sloughed off instead of pulling cleanly, and the flavor relied almost entirely on the barbecue sauce. That level of sauce usually indicates the ribs were boiled or braised first, which leaves the meat lacking depth—even if you try to make up for it with a thick coating of sauce.
As someone whose family is from the South and who takes BBQ seriously, I hold ribs to a higher standard. For me, the meat should stand on its own with a proper dry rub or marinade, and BBQ sauce should be an enhancement—not the main event. These ribs didn’t meet that expectation.
On the positive side, the mac and cheese was decent—solid, and easy to season to preference. The cornbread was moist and okay, not the best I’ve had but not the worst either. I haven’t tried the rest of the menu, so I’m leaving room for the possibility that other dishes may be better. That’s why this is a 2-star review instead of 1.
Overall, for the price, I expected more. If I were desperate for ribs, I could get better at Mission BBQ. But if someone prefers the boiled-then-sauced style of “Yankee ribs,” they might enjoy it more than I did.

This is a gem of a place. It didn’t take too long. They will let you know when your food is ready. There are other eateries in Lawrence Hall and a nice side place to sit & eat. Cuddy’s had good music playing. The food was warm & good. The service was nice. Only thing was that I ordered yams & collard greens and got red beans & rice & green beans. I was slighly disappointed but it was really good. So I would not rate them lower based on that. I, also, received corn bread with my order. I would go back again. They have a variety of options to choose from.

I ordered a wing dinner for delivery and was very disappointed. The wings were very small and 1 wing had huge feathers hanging off of it. It had very little coating and weren’t crisp. The juice from the green beans spilled over on to the wings which made them soggy. I love Cuddy’s food but I hope it’s not going downhill

Idk what these dudes did to make this Turkey taste so good: Took it out to dinner? Said it was pretty? Bought it diamonds?
It worked.
Best plate of soul food I’ve had in Pittsburgh.

Turkey ribs were good. Sides were way too expensive at $6 for a small cup of side. Received the wrong side, attempted to get the employee’s attention to correct the issue, but we were ignored.
