CUCINA urbana proved to be an excellent restaurant for our gathering of a dozen people! The waitstaff was very patient with all the special requests and questions. The food was excellent and many of the dishes were sharable. (Don’t leave without trying the focaccia and the squash blossoms!!). While the restaurant is not cheap “eats”, it also is moderately priced for the amount of food you get and the quality! I had the butternut ravioli and the sauce was superb! Friends who preferred vegetarian or lighter options – were not disappointed by the menu.
When back in San Diego, I will make a return visit. YUM!

A very mid experience specifically in regards to the price. Around a $200 meal (including a service charge for two people – we were not made away of until closing out the bill) for the following items photographed. Food was decent but nothing impressive, memorable, or unique. For the price point and many reviews claiming that the food is to par, I wouldn’t recommend. My experience might stem from living in LA and having higher standards for Italian restaurants. The food presentation, taste, and service were all fine but did not live up to expectations and should not be considered for a price point that could provide you a much higher quality meal and experience. Service was decent but coursing and timing of meals could be improved. Ambiance of restaurant could be improved for the price point that they place themselves in. Regarding the specific dishes, nothing was standout outside of the tiramisu – I have never had such a terrible tiramisu, I would never recommend it to anyone.

CUCINA urbana strikes the perfect balance between sophisticated and warm. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels elevated yet inviting, and the staff mirrors that energy, genuinely welcoming and incredibly attentive without being overbearing. I ordered the roasted half chicken with polenta and broccoli, and it was outstanding, beautifully seasoned, perfectly moist, and deeply comforting in the best way. To finish, I had the limoncello tart with a pistachio topping, which was bright, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. A truly lovely way to end the meal and an all around excellent dining experience.

Staff was wonderful and ambiance was solid. Food was delicious and I would go back. They provided free cake for the birthday people along with some other goodies. Favorite foods was the lamb oscobusco and and the pizza (not crab and arugula). Stop by there for some good overall food and vibes.

We stopped by Cucina after visiting Balboa park. We came early and the restaurant wasn’t fully open but they had a select menu available for happy hour. We had some drinks and tried the bread and margarita pizza. Both were very delicious!
I would definitely come back if I was in the area to try their full menu out.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and were honestly disappointed with the overall experience.
I ordered the “Nautical By Nature” cocktail, which came with such a massive ice cube that only about a quarter of the glass actually had liquid in it. I paid $17 for what felt like just a splash of drink.
Despite my husband mentioning during the reservation call that we were celebrating a special occasion, nothing was acknowledged or done to make the evening feel special.
The focaccia bread was hard, and the butter that came with it looked like it had already been used , very unappetizing and concerning from a hygiene perspective.
The dessert, a limoncello mousse tart, was frozen solid in the middle, which made it hard to enjoy. The bucatini amatriciana tasted like leftover pasta with way too much sauce, and the poached egg we paid an extra $3 for was overcooked.
On the positive side, the giant meatball and the mushroom and goat cheese pizza were flavorful and definitely the best part of the meal.
Service was friendly and quick, but overall, the food and experience fell far below expectations, especially for what was supposed to be a special night.

Interesting food concepts! The appetizers, especially the tempura squash blossoms and the tomato peach burrata salad was really delicious. The pizzas were well made and very flavorful. The restuarant is also a wine shop and they sell them at market price which was welcome. The pasta can be a hit or miss!
The food came out really quick, before the wine was served which was a bit weird to me, so the service needs some improvement!
Overall great place to eat if interesting Italian fare is what you are looking for!

Great food and service. We had a party of 30+ folks and the team was very attentive. Menu was amazing and hit the spot, including the desert. They even made custom menus with our logo. Would 100% return.

The hamachi crude and the bucatini with egg was really good! But I hoped the waiter mentioned it would be spicy… I needed to drink a lot of water and could only take some bites.
The tiramisu was really large and tasty!
