We were in Frederick to see the Carroll Creek Lighted Sailboats and stumbled upon Massi through Google—what a perfect find. The moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm.
The restaurant itself feels like an old house converted into a cozy dining space, giving it a relaxed, family-dinner vibe that’s hard to find these days.
The food? Incredible. They had fried calamari on the menu, but we asked if they could grill it instead—and they happily did. It came out perfectly tender and delicious. The linguini with white clam sauce tasted exactly like something an Italian grandma would make—simple, comforting, and deeply authentic. And the Veal Massi with fresh mozzarella? Absolutely out of this world. Rich, flavorful, and unforgettable.
We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend this gem in Frederick!

This was one of the few Italian restaurant options in Frederick, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed with the pasta selections or the overall dishes. While the prices weren’t particularly high, the food was just okay and didn’t stand out. It’s not a place I would go back to.
On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt family-oriented. However, it’s probably not the ideal spot for a date or a more intimate dining experience.

My husband and I have always loved the restaurant, so when we were planning our courthouse wedding + small celebration, we knew it had to be at Cucina Massi! Lianne was great to work with, Trish who worked upstairs during the party, was phenomenal. We had 50 guests for an open bar and dinner. The space was tight–it does sit 50 people although not super comfortably–but it was a perfect night. Everyone loved the food and the drinks were great! Our face hurt from smiling and laughing so much by the end of the night.
Two constructive pieces of feedback: They offered to set up the place settings, which included place cards, before everyone got there. Unfortunately, the place cards were almost all incorrectly placed, which resulted in some family drama that I had tried hard to avoid with the seating chart I made, but it happens! We also had drink napkins made with our puppy’s face on them, in hopes the bartenders would give them out with the drinks, as it’s pretty usual to also give napkins. We have nearly all of them left because they weren’t handed out.
With those two things being the “critical” parts of the experience, I’d say we’re very lucky!
10/10 would recommend for any rehearsal dinners, small wedding celebrations, birthdays, etc.!

cute ambiance! i sat on the enclosed patio in the back. the bartender was very friendly! for food, i had a caesar salad and the penne black & bleu. the caster salad was good – loved the creamy dressing. i had high hopes for the penne black & bleu but it was pretty flavorless, extremely small piece of chicken. for wine, i had their rubio red blend – not a good taste and pretty light. tried a cab after that was better.

I’ve been recently looking for some really great pizza to satisfy my love for Italian food and I have now stumbled across the best pizza I’ve ever had. I had the margherita pizza and was blown away by how simple but sweet the sauce was with the freshness of the tomatoes, and also the fresh mozzarella combined with the perfect crust. Absolutely amazing pizza. It was also my first time trying Tiramisu and I’m glad I had it here because it was incredible as well. The service was also top notch and it felt welcoming and warm the second we stepped into the restaurant thanks to all the great employees. 10/10 highly recommended and will definitely be coming back to relive this great experience.

We had booked the private room upstairs for a bridal shower and it was absolutely fantastic! We had Trisha as our private bartender and she was amazing. She was super kind, fast, and had a great attitude! We also had Jack as a helper and he was also attentive and helped a lot with behind the scenes stuff. Would highly recommend their private room – and request Trisha!!!

We live in downtown and get carry out a few times a week for all the restaurants. I have ordered from here many times and this will be my last WAY overpriced for the quality of food that you get. Other restaurants in the same price range have far better service and much better quality of food. Not to mention that you can order delivery with no issue but when my driver arrived they were told they don’t except orders from this company so our food was delayed by over 30 minutes. Do yourself a favor a visit the other high end restaurants downtown we’re you get what you pay for quality of food and service!

Mix review. After our somewhat disappointing experience, I did speak to The leader on duty, and the MOD did apologize and invite us back. So I don’t want to give the restaurant a completely negative review.
But I will say that the hostess and server were both lackluster. Neither of them seem to enjoy what they were doing, nor did they seem very efficient in their operation. Remember, courtesy is just as important as efficiency.
The food has a lot of sauce. If you have bread to soak it up, great! The food was good. I had the veal; I’ve had it in other places that was more crispier, which I think I preferred. We also had the crab lasagna, which was very good.
The drinks were not play while we were expecting.
I again, we’ve been invited back; I’m hoping that the second round will be better.
